I had my Audio (Pioneer 5550MP + TSD690r 6x9's) put in a while back and the dash speakers were connected up just to see how they would go. Well now every time the volume gets loudish (25-30 on the headunit volume control) these damn dash speakers vibrate and sound all shitty and it's really beginning to piss me off. What should I do about it? Disconnecting them is probably the best option...but how (don't really want to take it back to autobarn to get it done) Is it possible to attack these speakers from the top of the dash (ie cut wires so they don't work :lol: )

Yes - theres the cover (just pry off the speaker cover with a flat head from the bottom part closest to you) and then use a spanner to undo the two bolts then disconnect them.

Option two is two take out the head unit and find the speaker wires that go two the front speakers and disconnect them.

Just fade the speakers to the rear. You'll miss the front speakers a lot, even if they're a bit distorted at loud volumes.

yeh the covers just pop off for the dash speakers. And yeh they arent of the best qualitly. I ended up replacing mine simply because i couldnt be stuffed making door pods. Replaced them with some 4" JVC coaxials with inline crossover. they go for around $60 a pair and dont sound too bad off my current deck. Only problem of course is with 4" there is no base whatsoeva. The best available 4" is the Jaycar 4" which goes for around $120 a pair and have built in crossover. They are best option if your lazy like me and cant be stuffed with pods.

What about just fading the headunit to rear 4 or 5?

Alternatively, you could get a quality set of front speakers like 4" Bostons etc...

Boston = BIG CASH

and anyway the way i have mine set up i only fade it about 1 or 2 and it handles pretty well. and comeon fader on 4 or 5? you need some sound in the front. Hence why pods would be best option im just too lazy to do it. Tho if anyone has any of the verada door covers with the pods in that they just happen to not want, id be interested in purchasing.

You're better off getting splits if you're going to spend any money. There isn't much room in the front for anything deep.

I'm running clarion splits in my front and its shmick.

bah...couldn't be bothered putting in door pods, or spending more money on teh audio...so me just cut them out ..... snip snip!. This may sound weird, but as soon as I took 'em out and put on teh stereo, everything sounded so much better!

No wonder them's were bad sounding...lol

Replacement ones are $30 each from a Mitsubishi Dealer. Splits will take you around a day to put in (propperly) and will make it sound so much better.

Each to their own.

if you're really really really strapped for cash like I was, you can do what I did which I said in another post. Buy $9 tweeters from Jaycar and chuck them where the 4" speakers used to be. :lol: :lol:

Position them correctly though, I used some heavy duty double sided adhesives to mount them on an angle.

And yeah, i've been looking for those KS Verada pods/pocket for months, so i shotgun the first available pair!

You dont need the pockets. Put a pair of 6 1/4 or 1/2 in there and use the supplied covers.
