i have a sport exhaust on my car 2.5" i think was on when i bought it. Anyways looking for it to be a bit louder so was going to take out resinator does anyone know for sure if this is illegal. When to one exhanust shop and they said it was and then when to another and they said it wasnt....not all cars have them so now im confused. Was just wondering all your thought on it. Thanks

it is EXTREMELY illegal. its punishable by death.
nah i have no idea. i assume it is there for a reason for it though. they wouldnt put it there for ****s and giggles. or would they....

All a resonator really is is another type of muffler.

It is not illegal to remove it. What would be illegal however is if it raised the volume of the exhaust above the max allowed dB, then you could be defected. It's definitely not like a cat converter which is a big big no no to remove.

Becareful though, as no resonator could make it sound VERY tinny and farty and may make it sound louder, but also awful. All you can do is try. Perhaps another muffler would be a safer choice, depending on whats on there already.

Maximum allowed loudness is 90dB (or 93dB?) @ 2000/3000rpm (depending on state?) so anywhere around there, but I've heard some shockingly loud ones that police/EPA dont care about.

As for removing resonators... Do what you want dude.

think i'll get it removed....for loudness was going to put a cannon but my car olny sits like 7cm or so off the ground so i definately ain't gonna fit especially when the exhaust i have scrapes hectic already. And yeah i'll defiantely put up some more pics...i'll make sue i get a few of the bootlid. Thanks guys

i'd advise not to remove the resonator, magna's sound horrible without them.

louder, yes, but the buzz and tin can sound is definitely not worth it.

if theres any other mufflers in the system, try removing one of those 1st
