Why does it seem everyone wants to see 19's rather then 18's with fat rubber?
Anyone think the 18's would look hot?
hedgie
08-01-2008, 07:05 AM
in nautical terms, the bigger the better
thats why people wanna see 19's. 20's ............22's! OMG
Anyone think the 18's would look hot?
I know bigger is supposed to be better, but I'd go with 18"s. Mainly to do with cost of rubber and the wheel itself, but also because I think the slightly fatter sidewall would suit better with the kit on the car.
*edit: Cause I'm bored:

As hot as it looks Asylum I really think the ralliart needs a higher wing [then VR-X] of some description.

Those rims look nice on the Ralliart.
What are they? They look expensive :doubt:
Also, I found these rims (with the red lip) in my collection of Black Rim Pics...
(also included a pic of the rims you were looking at for comparison)
Looks like the pics may have come from the same website?

Don't like those as much, but its down to personal taste.
I couldn't be bothered chopping the red ones on, so I've made the lip on the originals red, same deal though.

Sorry, Can't say I'm a fan of the style, however def like the Black with chrome lip...
with that style u will be wanting bigger brakes aswell, another thing to consider.
I went 20's myself, because really as much as we would like to think that our ralliart is a race car... the performance difference between 17"s - 20"s is not enough to make ur decision for you maybe if you were someone like Chisholme who was a a regular at the track... but even then u would have race wheels with some semi slicks....you do know with the ralliart you will be able to get 19's and 245's.... or even 20"s with 245's....
Found this before on another website, gives you a better idea what black rims with a red lip will look like:

I still don't like em.

Yeah I was originally looking at those rims but they are just too expensive... :doubt:
I dont want 20's... 19's with fat rubber are on the cards [I like the Idea of runnign more sidewall]...
And I belive the difference between 17's and 20's is significant [performance wise].
Im thinking about the 19's because if i ever decide to hit the track or strip ill have the stock enkeis to ride on...

Would an offset of +45 be bad? I dont know an awful lot about offsets... [what suits the magna]
Tonba
09-01-2008, 08:19 AM
Well.. I just googled a wheel/tire/offset calculator and it says i need almost 1" of room from the outside of the standard tire to the outside of the 245/40 R18 on the 18" rims.
Also extends almost the same in the other direction towards the suspension...
Do the ralliarts have that much room?
Asylum

my wheels are 18x7.5 with a +45 offset, and they fit no worries. an extra half inch of rim and 10mm of tyre shouldn't be a problem

Mine rubbed on the rear sideskirts when leaning into corners or hitting bumps with weight in the back, and that was with 235/40/18. You will probably need to roll the guards at the rear if you want to fit 245's.

Can you roll the guards and still retain the flairs?

Yeah you can. The guy who did mine basically just "trimmed" the inside of the skirts so they were flush with the guards. If you stick your hand under the rear skirts there's a bit of bodykit that sticks in towards the tyre. It sticks out about 1-2cm.

I prefer black with chrome dish/lip just like mine. Zinik Z19 Monza 20" x 8.5 offset is +35 but the lip is sticking out about 5cm so i have to rolled the guards then cut the inside flares.

I have 245's on my VRX at the moment... [well... rear anyways] and It doesnt rub at all... but I think the offset may be +40 or +42...
Its sitting on 18*8" AMG quakes...

like disciple said.. just trim the inner of the guard, do this with a grinder.. and while your at it. pulll the flares off and take the clips off (you won't be able to keep the clips on if you trim back the flare.. then replace the black stuff with 3m double sided tape or I found sikaflex to be even better and it will look hot as.
