heya guys and gals i was a little bord on the weekend and made this heat shield to stop the hot air from the radiator ( mnaifold ) gettin into the airstream of the airbox it's not much just a thing i made up . it goes the whole length right down to the gearbox level checker as i thought the longer the better .... all up it cost me about $30 buck's to make using some sheet alley .......with some support rod's across it for strength ..... i am thinking not to sure yet about making a lid for it or puttin a little air vent before battery as to direct air in there more then the factory.......

i give ya 10 points for something different, but id be worried that it keeps the heat in. As in there's less air flow so you might boil your battery or melt it on a hot day seeing as it's so close to the battery and also it looks like it might heat up the radiator hose causing it to over heat.
For example every magna that i have seen with a heat shield on the factory zorst has cracks thats why i took mine off so it wouldn't heat up so much.
but it's the first time ive seen it done like that:D

well i have thought about what u have said and worked it out as the air is flowwing in from the front of the car aight ....as for heating it up after a full day of driving u can still hand touch the shield without burning yourself i can't see how it would heat up the battery as the air from the front of car is flowwing past the battery and around the battery...also the hose ummmmm nah it get's hot from the coolant but not from the shield being there on that ......and the zorst manifold is different there temp's in the high hundred's

Wasn't bagging you just throwing some constructive critersisum (sp?) your way to think about. But if it doesn't get that hot then what is it sheilding from and dosen't your air box have a plastic square hose that goes around the battery so it doesn't really get much hot air.
Just don't see alot of purpose to it thats all.
but it's not a bad thing to be experimenting with your beast:D so pls don't take it the wrong way wasn't trying to busrt your bubble or anything we all love first gens in here:cool:

I like the way you left some air gaps around the battery

in summer thats a good thing

yeah thats what i wanted as for the airflow to travel around everything ...... still thinking weither i should make a lid for it or not

cool idea,
but if you where to put a lid on it, i would strongly suggest putting several vents / holes in the lid to allow hot air to escape, and maybe one or two around the sides of the sheild you have already made - reason being; car batteries can get very hot!
if it doest have the breathing space it needs, you will shorten the battery life and reduce its efficency somewhat.

good work tho - looks very well constructed and held in :)

thats alright as u might have noticed right behind the battery air can ascape under the under the air box behind everything as that 1 part i didn't seal up as to allow for the airflow .........
