ok so at the moment, ive got an alpine cda-9883e deck and some sps-171a type R splits.(50rms).
now im looking at an amp to power the splits and power a sub. as im going back to uni im on as cheap a budget i can do to complement what ive got.
if i got the response 4x50rms amp to power the splits then bridge the other two for a sub, would this give a sub enough power, and what sub could i use.
otherwise im looking at the response 4x100rms amp, but i think 100rms each channel would be overkill on the splits.
any advice would be appreciated.

really depends on the sub your getting too
but if your going for the responce range then grab the 100x4
if your worried about it having to much power for your splits, dont be cause thats what the gains are for, just turn them down ;)
an amp with lots of rms watts is also good if you wish to upgrade later on down the track

ummm if you bridge 2 channels from that amp you'll get 380watts rms at a 4ohm load
so your going to need a 2ohm sub
whats your budget?

Dude you will need a 4ohm sub or a DVC 2ohm sub.
Perhaps on a cheap budget a DD 512 / Hertz ES / Boston G1 / JL W1v2 might be on the cards. Depends if you willing to spend around $200-300 on a sub :D

prob $500 for parts..then whatever for install.
so if the amp is $300 i guess $200 for a sub. would that be enough?

It will be for the DD, and almost enough for the Hertz :D

You would probably be better off with a single DD 512 / Treo Tsi / Oz Audio Vector 12.3.
How much are they going to set you back. W4 are old.
