I have my stock taillights at home and thinking about tinting (that nightshade stuff) them and seeing if they would look cooler than than the clear ones i have, did a little search and was reading some old threads and i started wondering how the clear ones would look tinted? anyone done it? or does it just come out looking like those carbon style lights? its just a thought anyway...something to talk about
And NO, i'm not asking how many people think its a stupid idea.

i think its a good idea in theory however i think it will attract the wrong kind of attention 9from the boys in blue) my old lancer i put nightshade on the rear tailights and it looked ok they were stock lights though...

not going fully black, just a medium tint that wont attract police attention. I just thought it could look cool and just that bit different you know...

id say go for it but only 1 coat at a time so you dont accidently go to far, will look better as they stand out like dogs balls as they are

ask Ego what he did with his, i think his were professionally done, but i'm sure u could do it yourself! they came out very nice! tip is to upgrade the bulbs afterwards too if u go too dark, might not attract as much attention

I would thought tinted lights on white may not be a good match. But thats me.
Would have prefered as clear or carbon for white body.

i think full on black tinted would maybe not look as good, but a medium tint - maybe.

Yeah, not sold on it myself either. Tried it out on my car and it looked weird.

I think the TL's VRX which are slightly tinted are the best.

also makes a big differnece on colour of car that u tinting on to. Against a white vehicle it is always going to be a different look than aginst something darker but comes down to personal preference. I have a blue te which am currently lookin at doing will add pics once done.

Give it a good 6+ coats of arcrylic clear over the top, let dry for a day then sand down with 2000 and polish and they will be shiney as anything.
i reckon do 2 coats, will be "meduim" as you want it, with 1 coat you wont get the coverage right, so 2 coats makes sure you get all the areas you missed the 1st time

I had mine at a medium, looked better and never got any word from police. Also passed rego inspection with them on. Check my profile for an idea of the tinting level
