Does anyone know where the cheapest place to get a starter motor for a KS v6 94 model auto? surely there are cheaper places than Repco and Burson. They are asking around $250 for a replacement and i need one urgently!!

Any speedy advice would be great. I'm in Melbourne.

250 is about right for a brand new bosch or ashdown replacement unit, You could try the wreckers for a 2nd hand one you would be looking at 100ish for one from a wreckers. Other then that try some more places other then burson and repco, if you pit auto shops against each other by getting qoutes and getting them to beat it.

Changeover ones can be had for around $130ish i think... they're reconditioned units, and so.. u need to return your old one to them. Talk to an auto electrician about sourcing one.

most auto electricians will swap you over for a reconditioned one for around $200 including labour, last time i checked. That is, if you didnt want to install it yourself.

You guys are legends.
I tryed Magna00's suggestion and got the price down abit. It suprised me how willing they were to beet their competitors. I had a look on ebay from coldamus's link and spoke with the guy. Good price for an after market part and got him down further. Have bought it off him for the same price as a reconditioned motor. I would prefer to get a new part as some reco's don't last as long as you would like so even though it's not a genuine part you can trust you will get better use out of it.
Well done fella's
