I just bought a replacement left side drive shaft for my 94 Verada and, armed with my Haynes manual, just tried to fit it.

Having finally got the old driveshaft out of the hub I could not see how to get it out of the intermediate shaft bearing bracket. The Haynes manual just refers to removing the whole axle, complete with the intermediate shaft, but the new axle doen't include the intermediate shaft so obviously I have to separate them.

Can anybody give me advice on how to do this?

Is it necessary to remove the whole thing including the intermediate shaft as the Haynes manual says, or can you somehow leave the intermediate shaft in place? If I need to get the lot out, how do you get at the bolts that secure the intermediate shaft bracket - I can't get anywhere near them...

For the time being I've put it back together so that I can drive it, but I really need to get this sorted.

oiks

Take the whole shaft out and then separate. Not hard at all and ive done only done it once. It'd be pretty hard if its even possible to separate the intermediate shaft while it in.

Just cracking that wheel nut is nuts hard.

Thanks for the reply! How did you get to the intermediate bracket bolts? I can only just get my hand in there so I can't see how I'll get a spanner on them.

Pretty sure you leave the bracket in and slide the drive-axel out.

Cant remember otherwise
