I've decided to start getting serious(er) lol with the sound system in my TJ. I have already installed a new head unit, clarion 2ch amp and Type S splits in the front, and i'm currently running standard 6x9s, which are actually not that bad, but i'm going to replace them anyway with 6.5s or the like. I have a set of custom panels for two subs between the taillights and wheel arches much like Asylum's set up, along with a matching false floor. At the moment I am going to run only one sub, due to me having stuff all money, but I may change my mind down the track and add another. Since this is the case I was thinking of mounting the amp on the inside of the bootlid and dressing it up with a Verada style lining, albeit slightly hacked up to fit the amp. Has anyone else tried this setup at all? How did you mount the amp to the bootlid? I was thinking of glueing two peices of wood to the bootlid and screwing the amp to them, and covering all of the ugly bits with the bootlining.

its not recommended mounting any amp upside down
so mounting it on the boot lid is a no go
maybe just mount it on the back of the rear seat?
or make up a side panel and use that until you get another sub

Righto then cheers. Maybe I'll just make up a false panel to fit up near the seats and mount it on that, so I can hide wiring and stuff. Thanks for the info mate. Just out of curiosity why can't you mount them upside down? does it stuff with the fan or something?

its mainly because the amp will not have sufficent cooling and will tend to overheat in no time

Of course heat rises, silly me. Thanks for the reality check.

Ive had my amp mounted in the boot under my parcel shelf upside down for 3 years. never had an issue. mind you it has two built in fans in it..:) id never mount a sub amp there though. they work alot harder and get so must hotter..)

:P can you get intercoolers for amp? hehe it may sound stupid...but it'll be cool if you can purcahse them..... increase the lifetime on ur amp. :D
