I've purchased a pile of Momo accessories for my Magna on eBay that i wanted, including a Momo Drifting Wheel, i was wondering if anyone has used this wheel on TJ magna yet.
From the info i read apparently there are Hub Adapters for these wheels to suit different types of cars, the only adapters i could find for a Mitsubishi were for: Mirage, Lancer, EVO 8 etc...
I thought that maybe my car didn't require the adapter, and that it might just fit it?
So basically i just need to know wether these accessories will fit my magna:
- Momo Drifting Wheel
- Pit Stop handbrake boot
- Pit Lane hand brakes
Cheers :D

you wont be able to fit that steering wheel unless it has a air bag

yeah because all Tj's came standard with a drivers airbag it is illegal to remove it. However you can buy replacement steering wheels like what came in the ralliart and leather ones etc that you can fit and it still takes your original airbag. These units wont require a boss kit they are a bolt on unit

Is there a way to make it fit at all  even if i wanted to remove the airbag setup.. because if this wheel fits a lancer how is the steering wheel setup so different to my magna?
Just wondering, coz i haven't looked closely a lancer but their still a standard mitsubishi right?

If your car has a Driver's Airbag then it's illegal to remove it.
Also it'd make your car less safe in a major accident.
If you already have the steering wheel or have already paid for it, then just sell it again.
If you haven't paid for it, email the seller to see if you can back out of the purchase because you have just found out it's illegal on your car. If they say no, then I guess you'll have to go through with the purchase or get negative feedback.
Then look for a Ralliart Magna Steering Wheel or recover yours with whatever leather you want to. There was a thread here on AMC once doing a group buy I think.

I have a non-airbag wheel from a TF... AFAIK that's where non-standard airbags sorta ended, fully compulsory for ADM cars to have airbags after that...
If you remove your airbag, you're rendering your car unroadworthy (read illegal) and you're a freaking idiot for removing a safety aspect of your car just so you can have a drift wheel lol

id like to add aswell that if u remove the airbag 99% of the time if u have an accident insurance will say "bad luck not paying out on it as u have removed a safety device"

Apparently in QLD, you can take the airbag off but it'll cost you the price of a engineer's certificate. And from what I've been told this kind of mod isn't cheap to do.

But when you hit somthing going fully sic drift sideways in a magna the front airbag shouldn't deploy anyways.
So point is... if its sideways its OK!!:bowrofl:

I was under the impression that insurance companies hated airbags because they add $800 to the cost of a payout if they deploy in a minor accident....I wouldn't put it past an insurance company to deny insurance based on this reasoning though.
This talk of airbags, insurance and accidents is all very nice, but could we back the discussion up a bit for those of us (probably just me) who are out of the loop......WTF is a drift steering wheel? Why is it different to a normal wheel? Does it make some sort of functional difference in being able to drift or is it just a fully sick mod that lets you drive one handed down Chapel Street on a Saturday Night, freeing up your other hand to point at your totally mad monster tacho with built-in shift light while you hold your car a redline and dump the clutch to hear your blow-off valve above the roar of the 26 subwoofers in the boot? Is it a 2 Fast 2 Furious thing, like a black bonnet on a fluorescent car?
Yes it is illegal to remove it, hey but who is gonna check right? Especially when some models of magna already come without them, lets say cop pulls you over, how the hell is he gonna know that this model came with an air bag (unless he is a magna expert).
It'll be the insurance company that'll check, they'll love you for it. You'll ring up to make a claim because you rear ended a Merc say, they'll investigate the situation, find out you illegally changed a safety device on the car (they'll check everything to get out of a claim) and say sorry mate, your not covered, heres that $45,000 bill for the damage to the Merc, cya later.
That wouldn't go down so well would it, worth the risk for a drift wheel?
