Hi everyone

I was wondering whether anybody knew how to remove the black plastic side window surrounds please? A photo is below to illustrate what I mean.

I had a go today from the rear door where there is a clip which easily popped out, but the rest of it appears to require alot of force and I don't want to attempt anything unless I know if/how they come off.

The reason I want to remove them is to sand and respray with a matt black paint as they are very sun damaged.

So any advice appreciated.

Thanks

i think they are part of the rubber seal that stops rain getting into the car?

looking at them, they have grooves on the edges near to where the window is in the fully up position.

are you trying to take them off for comsmetics, or to change it with a new part?

EDIT - re-read your post. you want to make them look new again :)

No they're not. I just replaced both L and R seals on my TF. The seals are just a press fit into the mould. The mould itself is held in with fasteners which you will see when you pull the seals out.

A warning - refitting the seals is a PITA. You have to fit the B pillar section first, then push the seals up into their retaining grovve using something like an ice cream stick to get the seal to snug into the mould.

Yep, you have to remove the rubber window seals and behind them are screws holding the plastic window surrounds in place. Quite simple really but refitting the window seals is a pain.
