Okay, this time it's not a problem with the Verada, it's with a 3 litre (TF) Magna owned by a friend. He drove the car into his garage and tried to turn it off, but the engine kept running even with the key out, the only way he could stop it was to stall it. Anybody got any ideas before he calls an auto elec on Monday?

All the power goes through the ignition... i'd look at that first.

I had that in the Camry years ago...thought it was possessed!
Our mechanic fixed it. I don't remember asking how or why...just wanted it fixed.:D

Nup, it runs fine, no coughing or spluttering, just won't switch off.

would i be correct in saying that when we turn off the ignition the computer cuts power to either the spark, injectors, or both? If thats the case, i would be looking in those areas. As mad-biker has said, and i agree, i doubt it will be "run on" or "dieseling".
