My TE exhaust baffle is rattling like no bodies buisness and it is really doing my nut.
(however the noise did lead me to find my hydr. tensioner had collapsed. lucky)

I know a mitsubishi mechanic who says these cars have this problem frequently, and that misubishi send them away. It about an inch from where the two exhaust manifolds (V6) meet into 1 Pipe belfore the flexi-joint. they then have a small whole cut and then the baffle is then migged into place and the whole migged closed.

My question is does anyone Know of a place that does this in the geelong region that'll do this or of a quick fix without buying a new exhaust kit?

Cheers

I've found a joint that'll do it 4 $60-80 depending on serverity.

Any thoughts?

it's an easy fix. i think i have one at work so if i do i'll cut it open and take some pics of what your talking about.

if your regular exhaust shop can't do it then i wouldn't bother taking my car there at all.

shouldn't be any more than $100 at the absolute most.

under an hour if they know what they are doing.

Is it the Y section when the two manifolds come together, if so i was told it is a "broken weld" and cant easily be fixed.

doesn't look like i have thos engine pipes anymore so can't help you with pics. pretty much the only way to fix it is to undo the engine pipes, drill a hole in the 'Y' piece, weld the loose bit up and weld the hole up.

the reason i say you have to undo the engine pipes is because you have to drill through the top to be able to weld it properly. I've done a few of these myself and can be quite easy if you know what you are doing.

How far from the flexi piping is it approx. or is it different on all the cars?
