When i brought my wagon it had 46,000km on and they did a major service on it, the sticker they put on was 52500 for its next service, that seems a bit close 6000km apart, is that what mitsu recomends.

im also told i have to have it serviced at a mitsu dealer for the warrantee, so how much you recon it should cost for a 52500 service?

This is only an intermediate service. it is just an oil change. The next major is at 60K. I personally do my oil and filter every 7500km

The actual service period for a Magna/Verada is 15,000km, but the general consensus is that doing it more often is the better way to go.

I generally do mine every 5000km, however my current oil has been in for about 10,000km as I really havent been bothered to do it.

I do my oil every 5000 and big service every 10000 ie filters and all that crap. My warranty only states service every ten thou so i do the 5 thou myself.

1,500 - free inspection
7,500 - change oil
15,000 - regular service
22,500 - change oil
30,000 - regular service
37,500 - change oil
45,000 - regular service (which would be the one done when you bought it, was just 1000kms late)
52,500 - oil change
60,000 - regular service

and so on....

so the one that your due for is just an oil change and should be about $115 from a mitsu dealer..

a lot of cars are oil and filter every 10,000 kms or every 6 months... mitsu's arent as regular but have a split oil change then oil and filter...

if you have any doubts just stick to the sheduled servicing and you should b fine..

services should be $115 approx for oil change and $140 for regular service (oil and filter) obviously they charge more for extra parts used and extra labour if needed.. to me thats bugger all money... just check with them to see what the service includes and doesnt include..

15 bucks for 5l of oil

its actually more like $24 - $35 for 5l decent oil....

they do do a little more than just an oil change, they do (or are at least supposed to) to simple checks on a number of aspects of a vehicle

my local mitsu for exampl will always ensure that out of the 4 tyres on the car, the tyres on the front of the car will have the most tread (a bonus tyre rotation if you like)

also check things like condition of brakes and inform you if they are getting close to replacment, check battery, exhaust and so on.......and why do they do this? (or are supposed to).........so you dont have to

i put em to the test one day, put a blown globe in for my rear number plate.........it got replaced....and charged for of course!

Checks like that are designed for people like me, if my washer water runs out between services I will try to get away without filling it, lol, check trans oil? Brake fluid? Battery water Level? Pfft, that would mean opening the bonnet!! 7500km service intervals work for me!!

Hi, ive been lazy lately only do it every 10-15k, trying to compensate it by putting expensive oil , like royal purple or Mobil 0-40 about $95 at repco. Plus my car is dual fuel so LPG keeps engine quite clean.

Cheers

Got this far by driving company cars, they're made to a different standard to the average personally-owned vehicle, theres no need to check any fluids or actually even service them, and they can go places, carry loads and achieve revs that a private vehicle cant

Nah for some reason I love working on cars, but only other peoples cars, if mine breaks down or has something wrong with it I get too frustrated (probably because I know I need it back on the road ASAP) and just end up taking it to a mechanic. So when I say I don't check stuff, it's just because I don't normally need to, I get the car serviced regularly and basically that seems to cover me.

Hi,

Sorry to bring this old thread up. I really did not want to create a new thread for this n00b question. Anyone know the wrench size needed to remove the battery cables on TF?

TIA

depends on what nuts you have on the terminal factory or not should be 12mm or 13mm its all trial and error.

Thought so. Thanks mate. Another question, how often one would expect to replace the drive shafts? Last year, I replaced my driver side and this year ist he passenger side. Hope they both last atleast a year :doubt:

Depends on how you drive it, full gas pedal with it on full lock will eat out CV's resonably quickly, but if they were greased well and that you should get 5-8 years out of a set of aftermarkets.

full gas pedal! never done that  hehe i fall under the conservative driver category. anyhow, if what you say is right then i should not have to shell out lot of dough next year again :) thanks!

For the record the spanner needed for factory terminals is 10mm

Now this question has little to do with servicing and ran its course ages ago
