Hi all! Long time reader, first time poster here... i recently, about 4months ago became the proud owner of an '04 TL LS magna, picked her up for around the 13g mark at the ex-govt fleet auctions with 49K on the clock. Not bad for a first car!

I was never big on modifications, but after checking out some of the other AMC members sweet rides, I thought I might try my hand at it as well. High up on the 'to do list' is to lower the thing and throw some bigger rims on there, but until some funds become available (rare for a student) I'll have to make do with the stock 15" rims.

Today I made my first mod - chromed up the grille, photos of one side complete and the final outcome are below. Total cost was around $5 for the self adhesive chrome stripe, only used part of the roll (cost $11), the rest I used to chrome the sills & weather guard.

Let us know what you think!
Cheers,
E

Forgot to mention, I have a boot lip spoiler on the way, will post pics when I've put it on - probably in a couple of weeks.

welcome !!

looks similar to a verada grill - without the verada parts pricetag (always a bonus!)

and you passed the first test of joining - first post had pics of your ride!

Nice work mate and welcome. Interested to see your boot lip spoiler. Where are you sourcing it from?

Where are you getting that from? is that a factory mod from Mitsubishi or is it custom made?

welcome btw

Hey guys, thanks for the kind words and welcomes!

As for the boot lip spoiler, I found a seller on ebay, but since they don't have any for the width of the magna's boot they have offerred to make one up for me - $60 incl shipping from taiwan. As far as I know there aren't any purpose made lip spoilers for the magna.
Autobarn will make up a spray can with my colour for $20 and I assume that primer would be around the $10 mark.

The spoiler is the same as this one: http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48860 but I will be colour coding it. The only thing is... as you know the boot of the TL is pretty well curved so i'm not sure if the lip spoiler will look good or even attach properly. Only time will tell.

Its a flexible rubber or rubber-like material, not plastic or fibreglass so that it can be shaped to fit any boot curve. I've been told that these spoilers add at least 25kw as well as significant downforce at high speeds :) nah jk its purely for the looks...

I'm waiting to buy the paint until after the spoiler arrives so I can hold it up on the boot to see if its suitable for my car, if not I won't even bother painting it & most likely put it back up on ebay.

Has anyone had any luck with these or similar spoilers on a TL?

Welcome

Grille mod looks great - suits the silver car & headlights well.
You've only just joined, posted pics, modified the car and already need to update your avatar - You'll fit well in AMC land. lol
