I had a run in with the police about my exhaust (must great police officers that pulled me over).....anyways they told me that should go have my exhaust db tested to keep out of trouble.....so i went to a exhaust shop paid $38.50 and had a db report written up....come out at 89db which they told me was legal (it was upto 90db till illegal) so i know keep this in my glove for the next pull over.....

now to still stay complient can i put another muffler on the otherside and have it stay at the same db or lower??? (hope that all made sense let me know if it didn't)

As soon as you change anything in your exhaust system you will change the sound. Adding in another muffler i would say if anything it may make it abit quieter? Not sure though. Only way would be to re-test it. OR just keep the report you got done and say it was when you had the dualies in :P.

:bowrofl: :bowrofl: i trying to keep it all legal, that way there's no hassles and my insurance is more likely to pay out in the event of an accident

If your not increasing the pipe diameter it should get quieter... In theory your also increasing the the muffler volume...as in space, not loudness.

oh ok just thought i'd ask some amc members cause the muffler shop reckons it'll get louder

i think it depends on how it is set up. i have 4 tailpipes with no mufflers, just resonators that ack like cannon mufflers (and yes there is a whole other arguement about if a cannon muffler is just a resonator but not the topic at hand). and mine is very loud, however, it is no where near as loud as my lancer was which had a similar set up with only one hotdog, not directly comparable i know but in my mind the fact that the magna is quieter is due to the fact that it has 4, not 1. so i vote +1 for quieter

ok seemed a bit stranged how 2 mufflers were meant to be louder. logically mufflers are there to stop noise and 2 is always better than 1, in a perfect world that is lol . thanks for advice guys....
