After searching for ways to stop my filter sucking in hot engine air i stumbled upon this thread.

While reading through it i was so happy to find an answer that didnt envolve me making my own pod box.
I just noticed the thread was 2 years old and due to my fabulous luck "EZ BOY" has stopped making these :(
are there any alternatives for me me, apart from building one from scratch?

Don't bother. Use the stock intake, it's very capable.

but ive already got the K&N filter and would hate for it to go to waste, ive checked out RPW.com butall their options involve moving the filter into the bumper and i would like to keep it where it is.

Panel filter or pod? Keep it if it's a panel filter and use the standard intake.

lol, it's the Pod. If there are no alternatives could i get some advice on what materials to make it out of, price and where to get them.

Search for "Cold air intake" "CAI" "Piping" - lots of threads.

you can easily get an adapter from autobahn that hooks onto the maf, then run some piping down below.

im thinking of carbon fibre or ally. But, does carbon fibre have to be vac bagged? i cant remember, it could be an issue since i dont have access to the right tools.

To answer your question yes you will need to make up your own box, OR buy one for another vehicle and modify it to fit (no idea how hard this would be or where you would get one).

You'd want to make it out of plastic, alluminium/alloy might be easier but it'll get hot alot faster than plastic. I'm sure you could make a very basic one out of pieces of plastic and using some high heat rated glue to stick them together. Attention to detail will determine how good it'll look.

Get hold of it from a decent plastics supplier - Jaycar electronics also used to sell sheets of it but they aren't the cheapest source.

Easy to glue, use acetone, or the correct stuff (rumages in workshop) - Methyl Isobutyl Ketone (I'm always making stuff or repairing ABS stuff) to glue. Some people also make a slurry using acetone and ABS shavings to glue, its slooooow to dry, better of with the real stuff.
