anyone used "auto air colours?" i saw HOUSE OF KOLOUR and they are bloody expensive!
im about to start airbrushing my bonnet, and wondering if they are any good. ive steered away from acrylic paints, as im getting the clear professional sprayed with two pac clear, and acrylic can delaminate after time under two pac paint.
so if anyone knows of some good priced and quality base coat paint, im after white with teal blue colours that stand out on a black bonnet. (id use candys but they have to be sprayed in clear coat and are apparently really tricky...) otherwise im gonna go with the auto air water-based colours, hopefully they are good

Fancy stuff like House of Kolor sounds good and has the rep but any of the automotive basecoat paint systems can be used for airbrushing. there really is no need to pay for trick expensive products when the normal stuff will suffice. there are heaps of brands to use with varying price ranges. PPG, Dupont and Glasurit are pretty pricey. Spies Hecker and Standox(basically the same stuff) is my preffered paint but then i'm doing whole cars. I would recommend Hi Chem as its cheap or , for a bit more $$, Metacryl as it is relatively cheap and has a very quick flash-off time between coats that would be useful in airbrushing with all the multiple layers/colours getting applied. any good auto paint shop should be able to mix up any colour you want or you can get a selection of tinters, mix your own colour and go from there. As long as the surface is prepared properly you shouldn't have any trouble with any BC paint(even the cheap stuff) as a decent coat of 2K clear will seal it all in.

thanks! fantastically helpful as always, cant wait to get started just getting the professional to mix up my black pearl, as the bonnet is red atm, and he is going to spray it then i will be ready to airbrush. :). cheers
