Calling all 380 owners,
Has anybody put their stock standard 380 on a dyno?
Long story short, following the exploits of this forum, I have changed my muffler, air intake, and air filter, and yesterday did the lowering.
Explaining the mods, my mechanic would like to put the car on his dyno to see what it does but this is meaningless without a "before" (stock) graph to compare it to.
Thanks if anyone can help.

Only problem is that there is no point getting others dyno runs unless they are on your tuner's dyno.
There is too much variation between dynos to be able to take someone else's results as the baseline for your own car stock.
Even on the same dyno results can change a bit according to temperature.
If a number of owners got their stock cars dynoed and established a ballpark figure that would be all you could hope for.

Okay, fair point. I should have made my own, but dynoing a standard car seems rather pointless - unless you have big plans down the line.
I assumed somebody else's stock graph would be a good enough to estimate my own "before" output.
Is there perhaps a stock graph Mitsubishi released for the 380?

I don't know about dyno's but the official figures for the 380 from mitsubishi are:
175Kw at 5250rpm (thats across the range) and 343Nm at 4000rpm.
I know cars are never that perfect but if you assume you car is producing around those figures then go form there maybe?

Those figures are KW at the flywheel and probably without ancillaries (alternator, air-con pump, etc). They are not really useful for us modders.
Horsepower at the wheels is the easiest to measure and a foolproof way of proving whether a car has increased power or not.

The 175 kw as quoted by Mits is with the engine fitted out as if in the car. So all accessories fitted and a full exhaust as well. By law thats how power and torque are measured and advertised.

Thanks, I stand corrected. :)

Correct. If quotes SAE figures, it is without engine auxilarys. Now days that isn't done much. Back in the old days the datsuns would make a solid 46hp SAE :)
