Hey all... any ideas whats going on here would be fantastic.

About 4 weeks ago i had noticed that i have had an significant power lose in low range... its also struggling to get to 3000rpm... for e.g. i was stopped at a set of lights. i have taken off and all it did was rev to 2500rpm even though i was pushing the pedal down but then after about 5 seconds of putting along it kicked back in and reved out to 6000rpm and i didnt even go quicker... it was like it was in nuetral...

i recently had a service done on my tranny and there was nothing wrong with it.

It also stalls when i sometimes stop and i have the demister on aswell as my lights. ( because i work at 5am). the only way to stop this is to put it into N and rev it a little bit then put it back in to D.

Please also note that 4 weeks ago when i was installing my stereo system i had a spark come from the battery snd the car took about 5 turns to kick over then it stalled everytime i slowed down..

I also had a Auto Elctrician look at my car and he said that the Alternator may not be charging the battery properly...

If anyone else has any ideas to what this could be let me know..

Thanks in advance.

Rob.

Could be either the alternator, or the problem i had end of last year, which was leaking seals, therefore my car was sucking air into the systems making it run lean, stall when idleing, have no power, then all of a sudden have heaps, or none at all. there was also a few vacuum hoses not connected properly so check them as well. i hope this helps anyway.

sound like you need to reset the ecu. When you disconnect the battery, the ecu needs to re learn where to shift etc. I'm not sure on the correct procedure, but a search should yield the results you seek.

Another ill-informed post about ECU's. The ECU does not suddenly forget it's programming when the battery is disconnected. The 'learning' it does is very small adjustments.
