At a friend's place for dinner, car tucked in his driveway. Another neighbour saw it happen and them just drive off. How could anyone be that dumb?
Anyway, the car was 50 m away, covered in my car's paint, so it wasn't too hard to get a rego. After knocking on a few doors I had the driver's name too.
"I'm really sorry. I was going to come and say sorry in the morning".
Yeah, right.
NRMA have already given me a repair shop to contact and it won't cost me a cent. What do you reckon - would they replace the whole bar with a new one or pop it out, sand it all back and respray?

probably pop that one out its not as bad as it looks, from what i can tell it hasnt cracked or whatnot and also badluck about that at least you got the drivers details for insurance.

Yeah no cracks that I can see (looking in the rain, with a torch). Some deepish gouges but I guess they sand out easily enough. It just looks so wrong...
I'm glad there's nothing in behind the corner, so there's nothing else broken either.
Thanks.

Nothing major, she will buff right out, after a little pulling etc first.
Its not costing you anything and shouldnt take very long, so you dont have alot to worry about.

i ****ing hate HONTARDS!
They will replace the bar.
At ~$200 for the bar, repairing the old one is out of the question. Not to mention that although it looks like it could just pop back out, the plastic actually stretches and will never pop back out perfectly.

Only if honda drivers could be precise drivers like the producers of their TV Ads:rant:

had the exact damage to the rear bar of my wagon last year in QLD. Cost $350 for the repairs which was the cheapest quote. First it went off to a plastic repairer (who i think pushed it out and remoulded it or something) and then to the panel beaters for the repray.

Yay! I got the quote done today. They're going to replace the bar :-)
JNow I just have to live with this crappy bent one for another three weeks :(
And today I took a bottle of red over to the people who told us who had hit it!

that corner of the bumper is hollow... nothing behind it
cost of a 'new' part vs labour cost repairing the existing is probably about the same
(especially at "insurance" rates)... but shop will probably on-sell the broken part
to a plastics shop who will fix it whenever they're short of work...
... who then sell it back to the panelshop as 'new'
Just you try asking to 'keep' your broken bumper cover

Heh, I hadn't thought of that?
In any case they're welcome to it... I get it done in 2 weeks tomorrow :-)
