getting these off a mate of mine, $250 unused and still in the box (dont fit in his WRX due to shallow speaker panels).
did a bit of research and different people have very mixed opinions. just wanted to know what you guys thought on product VS price.
thanks

Never personally used JL Audio but always thought they were at least semi-reputable.
And besides $250 for splits is always a good thing.

I got a JL sub, which sounds pretty sweet, goes OK.
I listened to a set of JL splits once when I was looking for speakers, but cant remember which model. They are pretty good speakers. Though I remember when I listened to them in the shop, the pioneers were so bright that when I heard the JL's after it sounded like the tweeter wasnt working. I preffered at the time in the shop the pioneers. Would be intersted to hear if thats what I really prefer in a car. I have focals now, which are supposed to be bright too.

Hey mate,
I have JL Audio VR650CSi's up front in my TJ VRX. Picked them up for $200 from JB Hi-Fi, retail for about $289 (I think).
The XR650CSi's are listed above my speakers but below the ZR's. Not sure whether they were available in Oz though. Are they imported?
For the money I paid, I'd say that they are value for money. They sound ok running of the head unit for now, but I have heard them hooked up to a JL Audio 300/4 amp and sounded much better. This was in a BMW 5 Series.
The XR's I assume would sound better as they are a higher model than the VR's, and for $250, I'd say you got a bargain.
