was just wonderinf if anyone could give me a bit of advice, vague price and such on keyless or central locking or both :p

i've got a 92 glx magna which unfortunately has neithers so i was wondering about some prices

central locking kit price?
keyless entry kit price?

installation of central locking kit price?
installation of keyless entry kit price?

also, if you actually CAN get installation of either/both of those, where abouts would i be looking? i'm located in perth so yeah, thanks for any help you can give

Keyless central systems can easily be found for sub $100, but installation would probably be a killer. Not sure how you'd connect after-market actuators, I think someone in the 2nd-gen section posted a thread on how they did it (possibly) relatively recently.

haha i just gotta see how much a kit will cost. if it's similar and ok i'll definaytely go for keyless rather than central locking. i really need some idea of any place that would install it for me.
i'm sure i could give it a go but i've never been a big fan of pulling stuff apart that is used to let me get into my car hahaha. also a bit short of time at the moment so yeah.
cheers for any advice and info

Nah it's not too bad man... I did it to my old magna, take trims off, mount solenoids, run wiring, easy :) Just a fiddly bitch of a job.

Yeah I had this fancy little flexible rod thing that you push the wires through and push it through the rubber door hose, made things SO much easier let me tell you. A coathanger will suffice though :)

exactly why i would probably rather get someone to install it for me. I did the wiring for my 6x9's in the rear a few days ago and that was fiddly enough. Still have to buy some speaker pods and speakers and then figure out how the heck im gunna get the wiring to the doors hahaha.

still no idea where i could get it installed at?

cheers

You can get it installed at a jb hi fi or Strathfield ,

If you are going to get central locking its cheaper to get an immobilizer as well
as thats your keyless entry. (the immobilizer comes with a button which you can set to
open and close the doors.

any idea on an all up cost for that deanimus?

obviously not gunna pay heaps since the car cost less than two grand but i'm pretty sure it'd be well worth my while when trying to sell again and just for my own convenience.

cheers

ive seen remote central locking for like under $50 from jb and strathfield. if you have basic understanding of electrics and patience you can easily do it yourself. feeding wire through the door grommets is easy as just need a coathanger and to keep the grommet really straight

Easy way to do if yours has keyed central locking is to fit alarm/immobiliser that has keyless locking outputs. the relay that controls keyed central locking is located behind the drivers kickplate under the fuse box. Did that with my TR using an old Rhino alarm from my previous ride. it is only a two wire setup on most from the alarm box to the relay.Check first if all doors open from both drivers and passengers doors if so you already have actuators fitted.

The GLX doesn't have the solenoids fitted; no central at all, as stated in the OP's first post.

But thanks for the tip on where to hook into the central for remote activation, I've been contemplating it but wasn't too sure how easy the implementation was (not that it needs to be "easy", I've done quite a bit of wiring myself; just wanted "doable").

at the end of the day i just really don't wanna pull door panels off and drill holes and then find that i didn't quite do something right or as is often the case, the aftermarket unit doesn't work perfectly (many do but there's still a high chance that something that wasn't made and designed for my particular car will not work that well).
I would really want someone to do the installation for me and looking at 4-500 bucks for the unit + installation which is 1/4 of the price i payed for the car is just not that worthwhile specially since it's only for my own benefit and i would be lucky if i got 50 bucks extra for my sell price in the future.

thanks for all the advice, help and tips,

Straithfield have central lock kits for $25. But they charge $60 a door to fit it

$50 - $60 per door is the going rate here in Melb. I used to fit this stuff for a living and for the average person, it is not over the top to do. I used to do these in 2 - 2.5 hours so if you allowed a day it would easily be finished. Give it a go. You will see it is not that difficult.
