Hi all!

I recently got myself a 96 TS in pretty good condition, a few things to do but all good! Ive been reading all the mods and the guides on here which are great, so I had a go at colour coding my bumpers! I left the grey strip on them cos without low pro's or being lowered, i think it looks a bit better than with it all coded at the moment!

Never done this before so... when i tell you it took me 8 hours... (to do just the rear bar, gosh and i ran out of paint... so ive only got one done lol) rest assured, it wont take me so long for the front! The back turned out pretty well i think!

anyways, thanks for the guides, see you all around!

Good job; did you do it on or off the car? ie., take the bumper off, or just mask up everything? I need to get around to doing mine...

Welcome dude, the spray looks good from the pic. If you've got the paint fully colour code it though, lowered or not, it looks better full colour code, unless your worried your gonna bump some walls with it or something?

Doing it yourself is saving you loads too man, I remember getting a quote ages back to get the front and rear bars on the TR colour coded, was $150 per bar, and that was just the bottom section, not inc. bump strips. Are you doing it with 2pac paint or something else?

lots of replies so ill reply in order =)

rogue streak:
i was thinking of taking them off, but decided to keep the rear bar on as i have a steepish driveway, but after 8 or 9 hours work, id suggest taking them off lol

wombat:
yeah must have been one of the last ones made, its registered as a 96... to bad they didnt supercharge them as a farewell celebration eh? lol

TL-04-VRX:
agreed, judging by the response to my post, top people indeed =)

Lugo:
yeah saving a bit of money! although im sure professionals would do alot longer lasting job... im using touch up paints... still a few bits to touch up! I wasnt happy with the line left after i took the masking off, so i pin striped (silver) underneath the bar strip and over the top off the paint to (hopefully) stop it from coming off at the top! looks good (i think) lol with my noob job and copious layers of paint (coverups) ive spent about $130 (including enough materials for the front bar), but still with the front bar to go, its looking heaps better already!

lenda:
thanks mate, its been really helpful here already =)

thanks to all for your welcome! Ive actually seen a few of the peeps from here about... i dont know names, but i saw a TR or TS (madiera red) sedan with a KS grille with the licence plate (UNZIPD) and also... a pearl green TR or TS with coded grey lower section with a huge wing on it lol maybe you know these peeps! =)

peace

Hi Mate, welcome, the TS's look nice when they are looked after, keep her clean and she will always look the goods.

First few ideas for you:

- KS Verada Headlights (known simply as "Parras" or "Parabolics" on here)
- Clear indicators (do a search on here, theres like 1 million threads on it
- KS Grille
- KS Verada/TR Elite/KR Verada Xi tail lights

Combine this with your painting and you will have one sweet looking ride.

What Gas_Hed said, plus wheels, and some lowering perhaps.

Actually, before any of those other mods, I'd say tinting if you haven't already got it. Took me quite a while before I did mine, but in retrospect I think it's the mod that makes the most noticeable difference from a stock car.

yes tinting is one of the best first mods to do.

kool thanks mate, some good ideas here! Ive seen a few around with the KS grille, they do look good! might be a bit short on funds for a bit, so until I get more play money lol im going to "eyelid"? shadow the headlights (maybe shadow the tailights if its legal?) maybe try and pick up a KS grille, still got some paint left over to code it. Next on the list though is window tinting and rims! I just finished my front bar!

The pin strip in this pic (soz for the crappy phone ones) looks huge, but its a twin (3mil top - 2mil bottom) but i think the dark color of the paint and then the "chrome bar strip" light it up nicely and it looks kinda chrome like!

thanks!

If you dont have the funds for a KS grille, the TS ones look quite good colour coded aswell.

Might save you some $$$ there.

actually yeap it is, i did that maybe two weeks ago, aswell as the front of the mirrors ( i guess thats the first thing i did)... but yeah, i was tossing up between tinting, or rims (but itll take way longer to get the rims)... so mhmm... what to do lol (maybe get a better paid job haha)

and fantaysia... my stereo situation is... standard... stupidly cos i rushed myself to sell my old car, i left a $1500 pioneer sound system in it lol DOH!!!!

Damn, $1500, that's worth more than a few of the 2nd gens getting around these days (non-AMC members of course lol ). What did you have in the sound system?

thanks man! ive found this forum really helpful  and all the peepz cool as! your ride looks sick, i like the front bar and paint job! i figure ill get one if i ever do some engine mods, or atleast exhaust, cos its great to have custom bars, but its no use if your transformer sounds like lawnmower lol (sorry my previous car of 6 years was a big 318 V8) so im used to the rumble!!! but with the way youve dont the front end, i reckon it looks like a 3 series BMW, i think its the grille...
