Has anybody experienced this problem. I have a 2003 TL with Lovells super lows all round, sitting on 17 x 7 rims with 23545R17 tyres. When I accelerate I get a shudder which seems more evident on the passengers side and goes away after approx 2100 rpm. But then the auto changes and the revs drop and it happens all over again. I have held the tranny at 2000 rpm and the shudder stays. It is not so much speed relalated as it is rpm related. After spending $250 at a Mitsubishi dealer I got changed tranny fluid and no explanation as to what it might be. I don't feel like spending money just to get no result. Please help.

Thats what is confusing. I would have thought that any thing to do with the drive train would be speed related. My problem occurs at 2000rpm no matter what speed or what gear the tranny is in. I would have though an out of balance drive shaft would either get worse as the speed increased or go altogether until the vibration speed is reached again.
I will have a look at your suggestion, but it just doesn't gel.

It could be a problem with the diff. Take it to an auto trans place to have a look.

On a side note, why do you have 235/45R17 tyres on a 17x7" wheel? They are illegal. You
need a minimum of 7.5" wheels for 235 wide tyres. Plus, they are way undersized for your
car and they won't have the adequate load rating for a TL (min of 95)

I went to the pro's on this and they told me what i needed. I explained that they must be legal and they told me what they did is spot on for a Magna. To be honest I did not doubt them at all, they were very proffessional to me. I could,t get a 17x7.5 rim in what I wanted so I opted for the 17x7 instead. The tyre, I was told is still going to fit.

Wait wait wait... check your engine mounts first.

exactly my thoughts. if it is rpm related, then i highly doubt it will be anything to do with the transmission.
