Thanks for heads up to Josh'93TR went to the local wreckers today and picked up some verada front door pods including plastic speaker mounts, all the screws and pillar trims.
Pillar trims are just a wank factor, but they are a bit softer than the plastic exec ones and look nicer, not too bad condition. The rada seats were sitting there.. mmmmm i wanted those too but it'd cost a bit of cash I need for other things. Not all the pillar trims are fitted yet as the front pillar still have tweeters attached which will come off and mounted in a different place once my new amp and speakers go in.
Anyway, from what I had heard the door pods go straight on.. but that wasn't what I discovered so I thought I might post up some pics of before, progress and after. Only took a few hours.
This is what the doors looked like since the last speaker installs.

I ended up taking off the plastic grilles on the back on the pods as i didnt want them to get in the way of the speakers which left me only with the metal mesh on the outside. To put the screws back in without them sticking out I chopped them half way with some wirecutters.

I chucked the screws which were to hold the pods onto the trims in half way and pressed them in place against the trim to get the right positions. Then I did a rough mark-out with a texter to accomodate for the courtesy light and give the speakers a bit more room (hidden under pods). I cut these out with a jigsaw.

I screwed the speaker mounts into the doors with some screws and plastic inserts which I pulled off the verada, but found that I had to drill four 2mm holes just on the inside of the original holes to accomodate for my 6.5" woofers. These also have enough space to accomodate the new speakers I'm putting in later.

From there all I had to do was drill the previously marked holes to mount the door pods with a 6mm drillbit and screw the pods onto the door trims. Putting everything back together was a piece of cake (the courtesy lights are not wired up cause i cant be bothered running more wires through).
And the finished product.

Looks quite nice even if i say so myself

Got any more info on the pillar trims? Didn't realise there was anything different with them.
I've done the speaker pods twice now (re-did when I installed the power-windows trims, didn't have 'em on those particular ones), one tip I figured out is to put a dab of paint on the ends of the plastic that is being screwed to your door, press it against the trim, and there are your markers for where to drill the screw holes!

the rada pillar trims are just a bit softer to the touch and carpety sorta unlike the plain smooth plastic on the exec model. you wont see it in pics, just gives it a bit more of a better quality touch.

Very nice, definitely looks better with the pods.
Tried this a few months back and did a complete half-****d job of it. lol Have to give it another shot when I can pick up some wreckers door trims.

i really like the fact that the speakers are mounted on something solid rather than just door skins. these things arent hard to do with the right tools, but definitely worth it in the end.

Also, can't remember exactly where it was from, but somewhere in the interior there are plastic plugs, ie. round covers used to plug up empty holes, not sure where I found them, but they fit perfectly into the hole you'll now have in the middle of the map pocket; just cut off the back of them a bit 'cause they are fairly long.
Can't think of how to describe them, kind-of like a plastic bolt I guess, with a wide round head and thread-like bits sticking out, which keep it from falling out after you push it in.

Also called a trim plug, got plenty of those at work. yeah i noticed the holes but im not overly fussed. thanks for letting me know anyway.
out of curiosity, have to tried flush mounting the tweeters anywhere in that sort of region? where would the best place be with enough room behind the door skin?

May need to take a trip to a couple of wreckers to check this out - very interesting.
