Hi everyone new to here post wise.
Need to pick the collective brain for info. Up until 4 months ago my ride was a 94 KR Rada V6
unfortunately she didnt pass her yearly physical so was parked in the yard till her fate was decided. (Oil Leaks CV joints etc etc) Auto is also not good and ISC is stuffed. Scored a TR Exec V6 5 speed for 1200 just before Xmas with 7 mths rego and have a couple of questions.
1. Do verada shock units have a different spring rate to execs.
2. Can paras be refurbished ie: reflectors need rechroming.
3. What difference is there between the full climate control air con and std one.
4. Would it be better to convert the rada to manual and restore it using the exec.
Am an auto elec/mechanic with access to workshop so money is the only drama was thinking of using rada for parts as the execs body is in far better nick also is current rego.

It'd probably be better to transplant all the goodies into the Exec, ie. parabolics, grilles, door cards, interior trim, other lights and bits, if it's the better car of the two.
The 5 speed + V6 was definetely the better combination.
I wouldn't see why the reflectors in the headlights couldn't be refurbished, I think they were plastic so you could find a body shop to respray them.

1. The springs in the Rada are a little lighter for comfort in ride
2. Not sure to be honest, have not seen any that need it
3.Climate control involves a control unit, witing in effect the whole system is different
4. Depending on the body on the rada, I would say easilly that you are better off fixing the rada, you have elec windows, cruise, ETACS, better interior etc etc

You could not paint them, they will have been a chrome bonded plating onto the plastic reflector, paint will burn but there may be somewhere who can fix the reflectors.
I would go the rada over a magna any day, even if the body needed work but then again I can paint a car no dramas lol

Thanks guys for the input. the rada body is in poor shape previous owner tore the front bumper off with a tree and doors are all shopping trolleyed. Conversion not a worry for me wouldnt be a true rada but only way to tell would be the ID plate and that dont worry me. Manual has far more go than auto and it would be easier to transplant elec windows cruise control etc into exec than restoring rada (spraypainting and panel work not my strong points) No ETACS as rada is ei not xi. Will post up some pics of both when i can find the digicam.

Sounds like you're better of "Veradafying" the Magna.
OT, I thought the paras only came in on the KS, not the KR?
Re-chroming could end up costing you more than they are worth; can pick 'em up for around $200-250, and from the vague info I've heard chrome plating is not cheap!
There are a few threads here somewhere on converting a standard air-con system to climate control. Not sure if you can take the control servos off a climate box and fit them to a standard rod-control box; sounds like you've got enough expertise to pull something like this off.
Power windows are reasonably straight-forward, the wiring is the main issue, but if you have plenty of time and the donor car you could probably just swap the entire loom.

I say transplant the panels from the TR onto the KR because as it was mentioned there is a lot of stuff in the verada that will be VERY hard to transplant vice versa.

But that means also transplanting the engine and transmission, CVs, etc... I know which one I'd prefer to do! Especially as he says he's an auto-elec.
Not to mention the fact that it's the TR that has the rego; you'd have to get the KR re-registered, and wouldn't have a usable registered car in the meantime (though I doubt he doesn't have another car handy).

Quite true I have a work vehicle to use but am not supposed to use it for non work related use:badgrin: Power windows are now in TR as I decided as pointed out that it is registered and the rada isnt. Anyway time is not important but the end product should look for all the world like a genuine rada. Have ordered a new front skirt and have been able to salvage the rear one. Not going to change air cond as the TR works beaut and I dont want to regas at the moment. Thanks guys for your input valid points for and against as usual. Will keep you posted on its progress.
