Hi guys, I had a problem with the accelerator occasionally sticking in my TL which is a real pain in stop and go traffic so I tightened the throttle cable just a touch - being careful not to open the trottle at all as I didn't want to raise the idle. Anyway, i turned the car on today to find that the idle had actually dropped from around the usual 1000 mark to around 6-700 :confused: hmmm...

went for a test drive, no more sticking pedal however at the lights it felt like the car was about to stall for a second (AUTO). Is a 6 or 700 rpm idle too low? At what rpm does a TL auto stall at?

It should be idling at 700rpm. I dont know why it was idling at 1000rpm unless it was cold.

700rpm idle is normal. Looks like the cable was sticking with the throttle open slightly?

was that idle speed in gear or neutral? If you check the book, autos should idle about 1-200rpm higher than the manuals.

When cold it would be around 1100 and then it would ease back down to around 1000. I adjusted it again today and its sitting nicely on 700 and so far I haven't felt the sticking pedal. Case closed it seems... tanks for the replies guys
