not sure if this is the right place to put this - its not a for sale as such, its more a 'who would be interested in buying these if they where made' sorta thing.

if i knew how to make a poll thingo, i woulda used that to help out with numbers etc.

anyhow
i have a friend who can make almost anything so he says, and we got to talking about my rada and why do they have orange indicators in the bumpers?
long story short, he says that he can make them - and is willing to make more than just one set - ie for my car AND for anyone else on here who might want them too.

would be using the indicator in my KL to make a mould for the lense - so im not sure if it would fit the TW/KW range - but should fit the TL maggy right? they are the same size?

if i can get enough people interested in this, we will most probably go ahead and make some up.
costings - because we wont be able to do it the mitsu way of injection moulding it, it will cost more than 380 clear indicators..

so yes; who would be interested, and what would be the max price you are willing to pay for a set?

if enough people show interest in this, we will do it - and il post pics of the finished item installed on my car before buying 'unseen' kinda thing.

im thinking - depending on numbers, costs would be roughly $50 a pair (plus postage to you) - i know expensive, but you cant get these from mitsu unfort.
the more people that show interest the cheaper it will become - we have to cover our costs of making moulds and the like.

cheers :)

yes... and $30ish maybe, might stretch it a bit more depending on how they look.

Cast resin in a silicon mould right? Wouldn't go investment casting, too expensive for materials. Oh and don't use alginate like I suggested before for a long-term mould - its only good for a couple of days before it loses dimensional stability (it shrinks)

Make sure it is UV stabilised (liquid lexan is a good start, cheap fast epoxys will go yellow) and it will probably need to be vacced to get the bubbles out.

to be honest, i have no idea how he is planning to do it.
works for some special effects company here on the gold coast and gets to make a lot of really cool stuff from nothing to "omg is that real" state.
he knows what he is doing and is very good at it too

im more the one with access to i guess you could say a 'market' (AMC so to speak) and he knows how to make them but cant sell anything.

oh also - at the risk of sounding dumb, what is investment casting?

Not at all a dumb question. It's high precision moulding used in aircraft/gun manufacture among other things and, to the best of my knowledge, mostly used for metal (copper, lead, brass, etc) manufacturing.......I think you are talking about a low-volume production, not a long-term project, I doubt you or your friend were considering producing these in massive numbers off a production line so you wouldn't have been talking about this type of production anyway.

yeah it would be a short term idea - would make numbers for the people that are interested, and a few extra too in-case newer members might be interested.
not looking to make a profit out of this - essentially just want to cover costs.

i guess at the end of the day - i dont want to pay the huge outlay for everything thats needed to make these, and thought that it would be a good way to share the cost (so to speak) and for other people to get some clear side markers too - everybody wins :D .

i know against white, the orange lense really does detract from the overall appearance of the car - but it would look good on any car, look how much cleaner the TE - TJ's look with clear markers from the 380.

Hmmmm, from memory the KL/KW ones are fatter (taller) indicators are they not?

EDIT: I googled some pics, Perhaps its just the KW ones that are fatter?

wow - didnt think that i would get that many people interested in this!
definatly getting the numbers of potentials that will make it happen. :)

im pretty sure that the KL part (going to be using my indicators for the moulds) wont fit onto the TW and KW - the KW are thicker.
AFAIK - the TL front indicators are the same as the KL part - can someone clarify that for me?

If it involves any transfer of money it belongs in the for sale section where it has to be approved. We have sponsors here who pay for the right to advertise for things like this, if there is any profit involved or if we can't see the actual cost of these it needs to go past a mod.

Doddski, suggest you fire an admin a PM first.
