Well if you missed out I just fitted one to my KS :D $29.95 on special from Jaycar. It monitors inside, outside (via remote probe) displays voltage and has warning tone for low voltage + also when you hit freezing temperature.

One good use also is if you maybe mount the probe inside the air intake pipe. I have mounted the sensor inbetween two fins in the front grill.

Nice one mate, I've always been a fan of that feature in the newer models.
Oh & I'm pretty sure the KE Verada was when the feature was first introduced as part of the climate control screen (It could have been in the Diamantes earlier)

And on that note, I may be off to jay car :D

yes i've got the same thing for ages, it sits between the vents where the clock is supposed to be. Well I dont have a clock since its an Exec, but yeah thats where mine is mounted. Needed it for the volt meter when I used to run the car computer.

I dont recommend putting the sensor at those vents, it'll read the chill factor when you're moving, but dont put it in the sills of the doors either, it seems to get a bad reading. I havnt found a good place to put the sensor, well actually is more like I havn't bothered to find a new place yet :p

I have found that the chill factor isn't actually too bad... on the freeway it drops about 2-3deg which would effectively be the real temperature if had that much wind blowing against you. When sitting idle at lights the heatsoak from the engine isn't too much of a problem either.

I have also found that the sensors sample only about every 15-20secs...

Check out this thread: http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4775&start=0 You can see that the factory mounted sensor is pretty much in the same position as mine.

Can the backlight colour be changed? I no longer have a permanantly displayed clock since I installed my clarion CD, & my gauges r RED so blue'd look funny!

No it's an EL backlight, not LED.

how much wiring is there to do?
i take it... 1 positive to the ignition.... 1 negative wire... 1 illumination and 1 probe for inside and 1 probe for outside temp?
is that all it is?

A lithium battery keeps the clock running constantly; an accessory wire + ground wire provides power to unit and enables temperature/voltage displays. The internal temperature sensor is inside the unit; the external sensor is on a 3m long wire that you can position anywhere.

There is no illumination wire, I would have liked that so that the backlight doesn't stay on whenever the unit is on. If it only turned on when your parkers were on itd most likely prolong the life of the EL cell.
