right! well ive been reading up on people and what they think of and how they go about making some eyelids! Fibreglassing seemed to be the way to go, but to be honest, I dont even know where to start with that!

So what i did, i got the old vegie tray from the disgarded fridge, and cut it to shape! Unfortunately, i could only make have size lids cos really needed two trays (one for each eyelid) but it wasnt to be. The thing is tho... i can add to the lids if i want to in the future and theyll still look fine after a bit off sanding and shaping and a respray! I bolted them into slots on the top of the headlights and they fit snug as, with the bonnet closed, perfect fit! Im going to color code them tommorrow and ill take a picture of them!

the reason i used the vegie tray is that the plastic is already pre moulded with the curves, it just needed to be cut into shape! hopefully they wont take a direct hit from a rock, and with the paint, the sun shouldnt warp them... but seriously, even if any of that does happen, it cost me nothing but a few hours work :D

lol yeah to right mate!! well heres a pic of them... like i said theyre only half lids, i do think theyd be better full, but ill have to wait till i get another vegie tray lol

the ghetto approach is good, cheap as chips but it comes up alright? not the best photo soz, but when i get my hands on a cam ill take some of all my mods!

Headlight protectors would be alot easier as they are already moulded to shape, you just have to cut the lid you want out of em, theyre already aligned (ie screw holes etc etc) but i was saving the money of buying some, but if you got em already even better!!

looking at em now, i could do better, but thatll have to wait for now... i need to sabotage the new fridge lol thanks for the replies!

I made my own, was gonna use headlight protectors but i had plenty of fibreglass n bog lying around. the first pic is after i had made them n shaped them n sprayed with putty, and the second and third is when i colour coded them.

I would of used black electrical tape instead of those things you call "eyelids"
serioulsy it covers like 1/100th of the headlight hardly an eyelid.

I've also been thinking about this, but my idea is a little simpler.

1) buy headlight protectors
2) mask out the shape you want
3) paint the bits you don't want clear anymore (inside would probably be better)
4) install

would be easy, look clean, protect your lights, could be any colour, easy to install/remove, blah blah blah...

theyre my "mini" eyelids/batwing attachments lol i like em cos they modify the visual curvature of the area surrounding the lights... just "enough" to make a difference... enough for a 2nd gen owner to see my car and think, mhmm, the front end looks a lil different... and cos i had no other choice lol and these are ghetto no doubt... but black electrical tape?

cheers mate! ive just finished doing my front door linings/trims doorhandles etc and I re-did the floor section of the center console, including (dismantling) and painting out the ashtray... which i broke the lid off trying to put it back together  so a trip to the wreckers is coming up! might try and score one of them reading lights/glasses holder, as i am a four eyed nerd and that would come in very useful lol ill put pics up eventually, im getting there, thanks
