I figured this was a better place for the thread, rather than the mod forum.
I've got an '05 TW Magna Series II, comes with 15" wheels. Now I know stuff all about cars, and both RACV (insurer) and Vic Roads couldn't help me. I need to know what size I can legally buy for my car.
RACV said that whatever passes roadworthy is fine with them, insurance wise. But that doesn't help me buy rims.
I'm looking at the Lenso Elegance 18" from Tempe Tyres. Now they say that they're an 18*7.5 rim. Is that legal for my model? How do I find out?

the old rule was 2" bigger was the max u can go
the current rule if you read here (http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/NR/rdonlyres/CC48FC10-4D57-4F04-82E1-3BD72EF88340/0/VSI8.pdf) states that you can not have the diameter of the rim and tyre exceeding more than 15mm more than stock.
So as long as you get tyres that will keep the rolling diameter the same, you will be fine.
18's are good
the only time you'll be going over that diameter is when you start looking into 20" +
as for the width, must not be more than 25mm for the rim

no offence, but that doesn't help me much. I don't have the smarts on this kind of thing :p
I called up Tempe Tyres, and they're just going to fit "Kuomo Tyres". I know that's the brand, but I figure they'll put the right ones on? No?

lol, ok thanks. I should start learning about my car a bit more. Not knowing makes me paranoid every time I go near it.

where you will run into issues is more with the load rating of the tyre rather than the size of it.

Correct. Make sure the load rating written on the side of your new tyres matches what's written on your oldies. And be warned that Tempe have a rep amongst the tyre outlets here in Canberra for getting this wrong often...

oh hooray. I know they've got "great" customer service, you can tell when you call them :p
Just hope it all goes well. If I go for them, and they do arrive with the wrong tyres, is there anything I can do? I'm in Mildura, which is a good distance away from Tempe.

The word is that they basically give you the finger if anything goes wrong.
Have you tried calling a JaxQuickFit nearest to you to see if they will ship stuff?? I've dealt with 3 of their stores in Canberra and each and every one has been brilliant on service and answering questions
