View Full Version : 3rd gen average prices?
Hey guys,
I'm toying with the idea of a new car, im sick of the old 2nd gen. Its a carby, its inefficient on fuel...albeit reliable. Im looking at either a TJ series 1 or 2, Executive or Advance (Not sure there's really that much difference between the two?). I've heard people saying the average one is going for $6k, im looking for something with about 90,000km on the clock. Im looking online and have seen them range from $8k to $12k. Im just trying to suss out what this is gonna cost me? I can get at least 3k for my car at the moment, cause its only got 130,000km on the clock and its in good condition..so it won't be that much after selling my car. Realistically, i wouldnt want to pay more than $8k for the car. Is this realistic?
Thanks in advance guys.

If your looking into the TJ's, i dont know how much luck you will have finding one under 100,000k's. And if you do, finding one that has had the timing belt done will be harder! ppl like to sell them off before they pay the denaro to replace that.
TJ's around the 120,000 mark are definately going for $8-9k and less
I would definately look for an advance over the exec. Advance has power windows, dual airbag, and ABS which i beleive is one the best safety mods to have for noobs in the wet.
also i dont know if all TJ's had cruise stock. Advance will.
Also remember when buying, the prices advertised are always asking prices, theres plenty of room for bargaining. Related to that is the fact that the market is saturated with Magnas, so private sellers are finding it hard to get rid of them. So its a buyers market, you have plenty to chose from and can almost make a price for urself.

hahaha noobs in the wet lol
Sweet, its an advance then...yeah i would settle for 115-120,000kms. 7k would be a nice price to pay for something like that.
Thanks for your input guys, i might get in contact with the credit union and get some cash flow, turn this from a thought into reality.

TJ series 2 exec has power windows, ABS and cruise control but only drivers side airbag.
Edit: fully agree with the ABS comment, It's definantly saved my **** one or twice and I'm no noob :D

manual conversion?
5700 perry? nice. Was there any real advantage between TJ and TJ series 2? besides the extras as stated above?

3rd gens are cheap now, look on carsales / carsguide, read some articles.
Nothing much different between TJ series 1 and 2.
For an advance its going to cost you abit more, maybe cheaper if higher K's.

Because they were only optional.

thanks mate, i think the only difference is that the series 2 had abs brakes, power windows and the auto was a tippy.
