HI there to everyone, new to this wonderful forum and I'm hoping someone out there can help me.
'92 TR 3.0 12v no power above 2500rpm still pulls to redline but drops off over those revs and shudders-this is what I've done:
new dist cap and rotor, new leads, new plugs, cleaned throttle body, tested tps, tested mas, checked valve and ign timing and have had no improvement in fact since i got the car about 18mths ago it has got worse.I thought about a possible blocked exhaust but the entire system from the flexi pipe back looks very new but I will still check that out.Any ideas? Cause I'm fresh out, any help would be great.
:( :( :( :( :(

i'm not a real expert and mal (madmagna) could help you more. But i think someone had a similar problem and they said it might've had something to do with the fuel filter...

hehe... what a helpful post...

maybe you're catalytic converters blocked - proberbly the main cause of the restriction. trouble is, when you take it out theres no way of telling if its blocked or not.

you should be able to get a new one for around the $200 mark. if you're keen drop the cat off and take it for a belt around the block and see if you still have the restriction.

Back again, have since put in another fuel filter and injector cleaner, removed exhaust and test drove still no diff!!!
It really feels like it's missing under load-2500rpm up it loses power and starts to miss abit, could it be the coil? If so how do I test the coil?
Anybody have any bright ideas?
Cheers fzrnut :(

spark plugs and leads? try them first..

Your rotor button could be rusty too..I had that problem...very lightly san it with fine grade sand paper to bare metal and then replace it...that should fix it up.

if u have power at low revs but not at higher, your timing could be too retarded, normally doesnt move out on elec ign engines, but as you have been taking off dizzy cap etc it could have moved. u adjust it by loosening the screw/bolt on distributor and twist very slowly ad slightly by about 2 mm at a time with engine running, when engine is at fastest running in idle it would be in a good spot to try with, tighten the boltagain and try it.
