Possible Series 4 380 / DC 380 new rear end

The article below has appeared on the caradvice web site featuring a preview of the 2009 Galant, it is possible that the next minor facelift could borrow the new rear from the Galant, what do you think of it?

Well, not much TBH.

I know what they're trying to do - keep a family resemblance with the Lancer.

But it's too late for the 380 design. The current tail design suits the wedge shape.

They need to do a complete body redesign if they want to incorporate styling cues from the Lancer.

Any idea if they have upgraded the motor?

They must have spent a fortune on the rear restyle i think. It takes the whole side panel into account (notice the new rear window as well) which is a big dollar pressing. I personally dont think the rear styling is an advance over the current car. As Knotched said the original styling integrates better into the 380/Galant design. This is one of those change for changes sake which is no doubt market driven (for the U.S). Our car is a much more attractive and harmonious design.

Yeah, leave the rear alone and work on the front.

Front's not bad... but 380 front still looks better. Don't like the rear.

Well that's just awful.... it looks Russian (and not in a good way). IMO if they're gonna do a restyle of the 380 it should have come out like this:

well glad to know from now on the 380 wont ever look like this....or anything anymore

tbh i dont mind the side profile it reminds me so much fo the 380 but the rear end is ugly as as sin and the front end....just no it looks like a cross between a lancer and...i dunno the son of the devil.
If this is released in Aus i wouldn't buy it...but hopefully if it is then maybe we can see some decent performance parts come out for the engine, which i assume will be the same as the 3.8l v6 in the 380...

That looks more like the VW Jetta to me actually...

But yeah that new facelift of the US Galant? Pure shyteness.
