Got a pair of new gas struts for the wagon tailgate maybe a year or so ago, very powerful; but now it appears that one of them has been too powerful, and has bent the mounting point and keeps popping off.
I've bent the mounting point (on the body) back into shape and secured the bolt/balljoint, but it has still popped off a couple of times, so I'm wondering if anyone knows how to de-gas one of these struts a little to make it less aggressive?

cant degas as they are a sealed strut similar to a shock absorber on a car. Its a bit weird that they have bent one of the mounts, when you got them did you get the exact ones for the car or did you just measure a few up at a autoparts store and got the ones that were the same length?

Got 'em off ebay, advertised specifically for 2nd-gens.
