For some reason my subs seem to have lost a little of their punch.... havent changed any settings, nothing visibly out of place or different on the subs themselves (and they are still moving about the same when running), or the amp. just seems like all of a sudden the quality of my bass has dropped.... its a little hard to explain, but i can notice the difference, the whole punching me through the back of the seat effect seems to have gone.
maybe i'm just imagining things, but you guys got any suggestions? maybe something i have overlooked that i need to check?
2 x Kicker 10" CVRs in sealed enclosures driven by a kenwood 1800w mono.
oh yeah, this configuration has been running fine for about a year.

ideally your mids should be giving you the punch and your subs should be giving you the weight/rumble.
Do you want to know how to improve your bass or what might have gone wrong to cause the drop?
Have you changed any settings recently? or anything in the boot?

the subs were quite punchy... kicky you know. nice tight bass. i want to know what may have caused the prob, but hey, any advice to make it sound even better will be great to!
I'll get the specs etc posted as soon as i get home from work

ok techy specs:
the subs are the dual 2ohm voice coil Kickers - model#05CVR102
the sub wiring is in series rather than parallel giving a 4ohm load (parallel would give a 1ohm load). i dont know if this is the best way, but its how the installer told me to do it.
The box is sealed and is around 1.3ftc per woofer, each in its own enclosure which is within the specified range of 0.8ft3 min - 3.0 ft3 max
the amp is a Kenwood KAC9152D.
these are the specs straight off the net:
1ohm stable
RMS power output - 500w per 1 channel @ 4ohms
RMS power output - 900w per 1 channel @ 2ohms
not bridgeable
this amp has the following settings:
LPF Freq - 70hz
input sensitivity - 0.4 (which is 3 quarters full)
ISF - 15hz
Phase 0degrees (subs are not inverted and they fire rearward)
hope this enough info for you audio gurus.

Ur amp is seeing a 2 ohm load im assuming, (different voice coil configs eg dual 4 would let you load 2 subs down to 1 ohm and get some more power out but no nevermind) so your subs are seeing 450 w rms each.
Funny they didnt specify a 1 ohm rating, maybe they arent really stable at 1 ohm afterall.
Should be enough to get them moving though.
The subs are only rated at 300 w rms you may have fried something on one of them if you are feeding them lots of power? But assuming they are both working still it may just be a case of you expecting too much from them, they are the lower end of the kicker range. Suggest upping to 1 x quality 12" sub and feeding all that power into it.
Have you changed the box direction? changed any settings? taken any wires out? accidentally swapped the phase around?

Theoreticly, if i was to change subs to a 12" or 2, what would you suggest to get the best out of my system? my mid and high range is sweet. i listen to mainly metal, and like my bass very noticable but not overpowering the rest of the ranges.

suggest 1 quality sub over 2 cheaper subs, multiple cheap subs will always sound cheap.
Whats your price range?
I personally like ID, Treo, PG, DD, Brahma, Diamond, Kicker Solo, etc

I will also add in the OZ Audio ME 12.4. 25mm Xmax can not hurt. :D

I was having a look around on ebay etc and found a Soundstream T5-12 (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SOUNDSTREAM-TARANTULA-T5-Series-12-Subwoofer-1800W_W0QQitemZ220197043037QQihZ012QQcategoryZ1880 3QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) (not sure if i can link that here? sorry if bad) $350 inc the postage
Ok, now i'm not all that good with the techical figures etc, but this sub has dual 2 ohm voice coil and 900w rms power handling with an 1800w peak
as the amp will put out 900w rms x 1 channel @ 2ohms would this be a perfect match for my amp to get the most out of it? Or does it mean that the dual 2ohm sub will run as 1ohm pushing the power up way too high?
ohms and RMS and stuff still confuse me
To be honest i have been thinking about going up to a 12' sub lately and selling the 2 kickers. So i think i will go this way when i find the right sub.
did u put anything new in your boot? toolbox or a blanket or something, maybe there's something in there that's contributing as a sound deadening device and you're just not hearing it as much.

Nah nothing. I'm starting to think its just me. i tweaked the gain a little and its sounding alright again so i dont know....... think its time for a more powerfull 12" sub to go in. i've been looking at different brands etc trying to find something that will suit the amp but its giving me a headache!!

prob around $400 max. I've found a few things on ebay - a Pioneer premier and a few alpines (apart from the soundstream which i've been told wont be right due to ohmage) just dont know what would be the best way to go.
