hey guys just brought a new headunit, its a Pioneer DEH-P3950MP... Cant figure out how to hook it up.

the destructions tell me that the yellow cable goes to the continuous 12v power supply, the red cable goes to the 12v supply activated with the accessories, and the black is the earth. all the rest of the cables are for speakers and the remote. I have no clue where to put the remote or the power cables. the only leads coming out from the car is a thickish green cable, grey speaker cables, my rca leads for sub(not hooking up atm) and aerial.

Got no idea what to do. tries putting power cables on green cables with earth on car but nothing happening. wood love some help. thanks guys

Heres a wiring diagram for the standard stereo. If you are using the standard speakers you will need to rewire them as the standart system uses ground grounds for the speakers.

The remote wire from the headunit is ment to connect to an aftermarket amp.

Which car is this going into? Your old magna or the one you got from legionair?

yes you may blow a few fuses

ok so you have power wires and the earth sorted keep them insulated so they dont short

the speakers have a plain colour and each with a black stripe

the black stripe is earth for each speaker

you can run all speakers on a common earth

the plain colour for each speaker is how the sound gets to the speaker

keep the volume down so you dont blow a speaker"

can you make up a test lamp
earth one end and touch the other wires
to find the power line in

the bulb will light up when you have power

do you want to run off green wire acc or
yellow cable goes to the continuous 12v power supply

you splice into the wire to get power or solder or use a wire joiner

1 cable needs to go to the acc, other yellow cable needs to go to the 12 volt continuous. IDK what cables in the car correspond to these, and i dunno how to get them 2 join. total noob

the wiring loom connection for the radio is under the handbrake
so the loom will look like it runs backwards

I have Caspers radio section in the car all undone to view

BRB

you use a knife and strip away some of the plastic insulation so bare wire shows
join togeather at that point get a connection

yup now we on the same track. the prob is that i dont know what is the power and acc.

now, when I find out what is what, do i strip some wire off the cord and twist then tape it round?
or do i try and jam the wire into the white clip thing?

colour wires of a TP exec std radio

both sides

strip some plastic off the wires with a sharp knife

try not to cut the wire or damage the pins

Thanks zOMG thats a good diagramme

now go to the wiring diagramm

the letters near each line is the colour wire

red white is continuos voltage so read for the left hand side.... for wiring

blue for acc using ignition

black for the earth

cover wire joins with several wraps of plastic insulation tape

hope that helps

does the ground have to go on the black wire? or can it just go onto the metal box that holds the top half of the center console in?

Just put the black ground wire from the HU directly to metal in the car.
