View Full Version : More secure boot

So, with the close future addition of all my audio gear, I wanted to enhance the security of my trunk release.

Currently I have removed the interior boot release cable.
So, the only way in to the boot is with the key.

This is obviously still nowhere near secure, cause all you need is a flathead screwdriver.

My thought was as below, please feel free to correct me, or offer suggestions etc.

Remove the key lock from the boot, and have the boot hole welded.
Install Electric solenoid with button inside the car near the bonnet release that is only active with key in ignition. *ACC*
With immobiliser key and acc button on keyfob, enable keyfob to pop the trunk with the push of a button.
Lastely, have a hidden pull cable leading to tucked up under the boot inbetween the spare wheel tub and the bumper, so it cannot be readily seen, and acts as a way to open when battery is disconnected.

Any other suggestions, or things I should know re: doing this?
TY
I know by having this on here I have essentialy corrupted my security factor, but can always fix that.

get an alarm + get insurance.

Remove any stickers, turn it down 1 minute before you park anywhere.

Take faceplate with you

hehe, i have alarm, plus insurance to cover the cost, always take the face plate, and dont play it loud.

the more equipped the better prepared imo, i'd rather not deal with the after effects when they could have been avoided.

your best insurance is the fact its a 1st gen,i doubt it would be much of a target, but those ideas sound pretty good if youre paranoid

your best insurance is the fact its a 1st gen,
lol, true that, considering theres an FTO parked in front of it, but generally the cars to get stolen and taken for joyrides are the older cars due to the lack of security, i just dont wanna wake and find a missing car, or parts missing from the car, already had the drivers side mirror kicked from lamos.
