Just looking at a woodgrain centre console that would fit the pre TL 3rd gens (eg the ones with cigarette lighter ashtray instead of extra storage. Wonderinng if it will fit my TL?

That one you pictured definitely won't fit as it's for a LHD Diamante.

by the look of that no, because a the climate control on the TL is down the bottom and on the earlier 3rd gens the AC/climate control is up the top.
the part that goes around the gear shifter will not fit because , you have your power windows at the back of it.
edit: didn't see the hazzard switch

Deal. I was going to paint my stock plastic black, so i'll just do that. Does all the centre console plastic come out pretty easy? And I'm guessing just a plastic stick undercoat followed by sanding followed by a couple of coats of black? Can you recommend types/brands of paint and undercoat? Maybe a pic of your black painted console too?
I'm a very needy bitch
cheers man

OK I'm going to have a crack at painting the console black this weekend. So i should rub the original back to get rid of the "whatever colour it is" then undercoat with plastic stick paint, then sand then spray black. Do i need to sand in between coats? Does the black paint need to be plastic stick? what gauge sand paper? Any other tips?
Thanks guru's

Besides the power outlet. I'm not really a fan of the little compartment between gear stick and center console. Put coins in there and the lid doesn't bloody close!

Me too. OK so I'm going to attempt it today. I suck at pretty much everything so I'm bound to **** it up. Does anyone have a spare TL console just in case, haha.

Just finished the painting process, looks pretty good, so far i haven't stuffed anything which is a new record for me. I was looking around for more interior to paint and was wondering if i could use the same process for the glove box and other similar plastic? Also the door material how could i paint that?
cheers
