Ok i've had my 380 for a couple of months and here's whats annoyingly gone wrong;
- Doors vibrate on loud music
- Lights behind transmission stopped (the P R D 1 ...)
- The aircond fan is noisey now
Anyone else top that? I am due for a service soon and i'll get them to fix all these under warranty but still ....

The doors vibrating a bit on loud music doesn't surprise me, could be a number of factors from the previous owner blaring the crap outta them, or some debris in the door etc. Though I've never known the 380 to have noisy aircon, and it's very strange for the tranny indicator lights to be out
Yeah, I'm not interested in an aurion vs 380 vs [insert fanboy car] thread.
What I would be interested in seeing is what annoys people in the actual design of the car, like:
Aircon vents have no lever/dial to tone down the output.
Boot/trunk hard to get anything big in. Not something I care about really, but some reviewers find it annoying.
Front wheel drive??
Automatic window applicable only on drivers seat, and then only when putting the window down (not up).
Boot/trunk release hidden in glove compartment (again, I don't find it annoying but some do)
Rear suspension too high, sticks up like a kiwi's butt. Maybe a good looking air dam with strakes/fins might make it look nicer.
Any more for any more?

My series 2 is 18 months old with 23k on the clock & I had no probs at all, I luv it! Would have to be one of the best cars I've ever owned.

I think we should start an Aurion/Camry vs 380 thread ... but
I wanna hear from more "actual" 380 owners about their ride and any annoying faults.
Agreed...
My old 380 had the rattle in the door too when the stereo was cranked. It went away when they replaced the door glass... Maybe you need to remove and carefully refit the door trim? And while you are in there suss out for anything loose.

Now that everyone has been talking about door rattles, my car has one too
Just started yesterday with loud bass - Fantaysia, I blame you *shakes fist*!

lol my bad! .. take your bass down to +0 and you'll be fine. I think my aircond noise is something stuck in where the fan is. Something moved and the noise stopped then started louder then settled.

well i've had a few things go wrong, first the driver side speaker got some pretty bad distortion so i got that replaced, then the boot lip spoiler's weather seal decided to poke it's ugly head out and i had to get a new one put in, then the roof lining is coming off at the sunroof and the back of the vehicle.
But in saying that i looked at the aurion and the 380, and i fell in love with the 380 for my mind it has a more refined drive to it, and the exhaust note even on the stock muffler is nice enough at anything above 3krpm. All in all i think the aurion is not as nice a car despite andrewd's attempts at telling me how much faster it is, i know i took on and almost had an xr6 beat going up hill full car and a/c on and yes he was going for it i could hear his engine working :D
so anyone who tell me the 380 has no straight line speed aint been in mine :D

Every car has its fault, and this thread is for 380 Drivers (ie people that own them??) to comment on the issues the car has. Its not for your ego.
Maybe you should type it slower since its already been mentioned yet this thread continues to be about everything else but what it's actually about!
If you don't have a 380 with annoying faults then please save your typing skills for a thread that relates to what you are talking about.
Thanks :)

:edit:
just thought i'd add
380 as tested by ppl on the forums modded and manual (still slower than crappy old 3.0L magna manuals LOL) not impressive time at all considering all the low 15 high 14sec magnas near stock
If this is my car you are quoting here dont let the facts get in the way of a good story...
The 380 was only ever run STOCK. I never had the chance to so it with the mods. The 380 did a best of 15.49 at 92.46 MPH STOCK on a warm day with minimal runs.
My TF did a best of 15.08 and i averaged 15.3 with a redback exhaust, K&N panel filter and different engine pipes...

Mines gone away, so I think it might have been something to do with the very high humidity we have up here in SE Qld ATM due to all the rain.

I don't care what anybody says, I love my 380. I know its not the best vehicle in the world, but no single one car is. Although I could have bought a car superior to the 380 in some/many other ways, I didn't want to; I liked the 380 and so I bought one. As for the rest of these "facts", tell someone who cares.

Even though i don't own a 380, i took a manual SX for a test drive last year when Mitsubishi had there road show. The only 2 this i didn't like about it was the inside of the car felt to plasticly (spelling i know, i think you will what i mean). And the fact that you can't put an after market stereo in some models.

Anyone else have a harsh change between 3rd and 4th at random? Example: this morning driving slowly behind a truck (20kms roughly) and the auto changed from 3rd to 4th with a hesitant clunk (not the noise just a harsh change). Usually happens when you accel then decel whilst moving slowly.
did any of that make sense to anyone? :P

My only really very extremely annoying feature of the 380... is the steering wheel; in particular the opening at the bottom of the wheel. Third Gen Magnas had enough room here to wrap your fist... 380 has only enough space for 2 fingers. Pretty fussy, but that's the only thing that really annoys me; the others things, like plastic dash, high rear window etc, don't bother me too much.

I reckon we need a Mod to put a jesus' bar up by the window for the front seat passenger

Oh yes, the old Jesus Bars/Straps; haven't heard mention of them in years!
Perhaps with the mods we are doing to our 380s now, we should do this mod too, for our passengers. :D

I think you'll find that's a function of the adaptive tiptronic. If you drive it hard and then quietly, the changes will be harsh for awhile.
I actually thought the 380 box was a lot better than the Magna. When I took a VRX for a test drive I kept trying to trip up the tippy all the time, knowing this weakness, but it never gave me a harsh change.
My car now doesn't have that problem either (40K) but I'm getting a little bit of flaring if I hold it in tippy mode and then change to full auto. Should be fixed with an auto fluid flush at my next service.

So far no real annoyances … but a few observations … #1 aftermarket suspension is a bugger … I have pedders lowered springs front and back … their only std spring rate and with parts I carry around the rear sagged so much I had to go to the heavy duty std height pedders … but now its too high …. Think ive found a fix for that though ;) … #2 there’s a rectangular section of floor on the driver’s side that you seem to instinctively put your foot when getting into the car …. I think the carpet will ware badly there and the factory mats don’t address this problem …. That’s about it so far …. But only 2k so far

Hey Cheeky, welcome to the Forums and the 380 section :D
Nice colour and nice set of wheels too!
Agree re the carpet - just under the pedals; looks like it will be an issue further down the track.

Hey thanks
Still have to have the roof and a vrx spoiler fitted … that’s this week coming
The wheels are 19 inch ROH flares … BUT their not the ones you can get at your local bob Jane …. ROH don’t actually make them with the correct offset for Mitsubishi … these are sourced from TMR and have a certificate stating the offset …. They were made for the 380... If you were to put STD ROH flares on and got some smart cop at a roadworthy stop... you would get done … or worse still had an accident and lost your insurance cover
I thought I would put that in as ive been asked by quite a few ppl what they were and would hate to see someone get done / duded by fitting the wrong wheels

I know they have a premises in Melbourne; is that where you got them from - directly from TMR?

Yes … in dandenong …. My dealer organized them for me and I was supposed to pick them up … but was interstate at the time (I would have liked to have seen the place)
You should be able to order them through any Mitsubishi dealer though …. But sit down when they give you the price …. With tyres you will have enough change to buy a few pots out of 2.5 k

I know unofficially they will do a S/C install on a 380, same as the one featured for Mitsubishi. I was given the name of someone from the Ralliart website.

Yep, Alan. Alan Heately, Wheately something like that?
But, don't worry, I won't be S/C... I don't want to go down that path. Might be some others will at a later stage tho. So it might be worth posting up.

Ok i've had my 380 for a couple of months and here's whats annoyingly gone wrong;
First fault was the driver's seat. I suppose you could say it collapsed. Was replaced under warranty and has been ok for over a year. No big deal.
Second fault is far more serious, though. The back passenger electric window motor decided to suddenly let go of the glass and it fell all the way into the door! Should be good to see what the dealer thinks when I show them tomorrow.

Wow thats harsh ... but I guess thats why we have warranties. If you buy a 380 that has 40+k on the clock then you expect the pissy faults have all been sorted under warranty .. where as if your car has 20k or less or brand new then that's just what we have to go through. Overall I think its a pretty well made car from what people have said here. I'd hate to see the stats on the BA series Ford's

We actually have a BF 2 XR6 as well as the 380 … and the build quality on that is as good as the Mitsubishi …and I think the XR looks more ( plasticy ) inside ( maybe we got a good one ) … performance wise … its hard to pick a lot between them …. Floor them and they both go like cut cats … but I think the 380 might be a smidge quicker off the mark … but its seat of the pants stuff … and my misses isn’t about to drag me … so its all academic
No other niggles found so far … but ive had a VRX on loan this past week with the sat nav fitted …. That’s a nice set up but not worth the cash their asking for it (I already have a road angel 7000) and that works as well
And iam also glad I wasn’t talked into the VRX …. I still think mine is more what I want with the extras ive fitted and there are some things about the VRX... I don’t like

That's interesting about the ford. I really like the ba series but I was looking at 2003 series ones so maybe they were more weathered.
Re the vrx I almost bought one but it had been a rental and had heaps of kms and paint issues etc. One thing I love about my 380 ls is the white interior, woodgrain and the seats are basically the same as the verada ones. I like the vrx wheels though better than mine.

Well the ford was brought in early 07 and was Nov 06 build so I guess they may have been a little better then
One thing that irks me about the falcon is … regardless what color you buy … the headlining / door pillars are white … and to me that looks very tacky … least the 380 is grey … well mine is
With my 380 I went for the STD one … I like the “minimalist look of the body on them ... i.e. no tarty skirts / grill / bumper inserts etc and you pay dearly for those bits of plastic …. Nice clean lines … then I added what I wanted …and ive always been wary about factory roofs …. So I got the best aftermarket one I could find fitted that’s all I really dislike about the vrx

Just had both headlights replaced as they were getting condensation in them. They originally ordered the wrong lights (I've got a VRX) but eventually got the correct ones fitted. Apparently they had to remove the front bumper bar to replace the lights.
Other than that, the only warranty work I've had was the rear windscreen had to be re-sealed. All in all, I think thats pretty good....not even a rattle in the car & considering my car is lowered (ie firmer ride), I certainly have no complaints with the build quality.

I just came back from working up north for a week and got in my car and the lcd screen didn't come on until 5 minutes into the trip. Not sure what happened there.
