hey guys i have just bought a donor manual gearbox for my manual 3.5L magna after the last one has issues.
i have been away for this site for a lont time to bare with me please

while the box is out i am installing a new clutch.but the prices seem so far fetched in between businesses for just the clutch kit.wear do most people on here buy theirs?

im looking at getting some exedy one (apparently better than stock) from supercheep for $650ish.but repco are selling a stock replacement for over $800!!why the price diff?

while the gear box is out i think that i will replace the cv's as well (are they also known as the drive shaft?)
as they seem suspect.

also we are having the flywheel machined and the rear seal replaced...can anyone think of anythign im missing on asking to have done?

im located in brisbane.

thanks jared

the stock replacements are very expensive, 800 is a good price. i found 950+ when i was looking around.

If you can get an exedy replacement for 650, as long as u get some kind of warranty i dont see any problems with that option

the cv joints are a part of the drive shafts, unless the cv boots (rubber joint) is split or you can hear/feel some issues with them, they shouldnt need to be replaced

may have your old gearbox for parts (in brisbane also )

make sure the clutch is properly aligned for the inout shaft
take care not to dammage the pressure plate on the way in

you are doing the right thing replacing the rear main seal
and machining the flywheel

nothing else needs to be done

Make sure that you get the clutch kit.

Pressure plate
Disc
and bearing assembly.

You will not get warranty on a replacement set unless you have the flywheel remachined as you said you will do.

the driveshafts are slightly different between manual and auto, so it is definitely worth replacing with new ones, even more-so with the gearbox and suspension out already, as CV's will probably die quickly with all the fun you'll be having :D

i think i paid that for my Exedy one when i did mine a yeah or more back now..

With CVs it worth getting New ones.. Dont get reco ones.. Reco ones are about $110-150 for a pair and New ones are $200-300. worth the extra dollars.. There are some diiferances between trans type for the CVs but i think thats only 3.0L i heard 3.5s ar the same..:)

Just saying if you've been quoted all that money for standard ones I thought you'd sent megatron a PM
