hey guys
just wondering what is a good muffler thats not to loud just a bit more than standard!!
i 100% hate exhaust drone. not after high flowing or performance gains just a nice note.
any part numbers would be good.
i have a full walker/lukey exhaust catalouge but only lists standard or race bolt on mufflers
any help would be great!!!

jsut buy an offcut VRX one, there would be a few floating around as people opt for magnaflow, lukey and other mufflers...
go for your standard VRX one, although the lukey is equivalent, apprently they some have been faulty.

i was surprised at the note of a stock VRX, much more noticeable compared to say a XR6 or SV6, which run the standard systems.
i run redback mufflers (one either side) and there is definitely no drone, as long as you stay away from cannons you should be fine

It was prolly a bit louder then normal cause i had a FULL car. But the only difference is that I have stainless steel ralliart headers w/ same Y-pipe as you guys, and a 'bomb' (ala hot dog) style central muffler...
So basically Iff you would like to get a similar sound, drop the rear muffler off and add two hot dogs to the system... (keep standard center muffler)

Agreed. I run full Redback and when you stand on it with the windows down it's glorious. But drive normally with the windows up and it's very civilised. I ran an LR2779 on the end of the std system before that and it had barely any note at all - very dissapointing.

My standard TL VRX AWD exhaust drones at low revs (all the time), my wife hates sitting in the back because of it. Apart from the drone, it sounds good under acceleration. The only reason I haven't changed it is because I haven't figured out what to get, and I'll get grief for spending more money it, but I'd love to get rid of the drone.

Ken N,
How about you add a hot dog to the system... that should get rid of some of the drone...

Thanks for the suggestion Tonba. Do you have any suggestions for type or brand, and more importantly, where is a suitable place to locate it? I haven't crawled around under the car for a while, so my recollection of the layout is a bit vague.
If I could get rid of the drone and keep everything else the same, I'd be happy (well, at least for the moment).

Any decent exhaust shop should be able to add a hotdog for around the 80 dollar mark to help cut down the drone.

I'm in the same position as you - I want exactly the same thing. Where does one get the Magna sports (Ralliart) one, and what sort of cost?
Edit: Never mind, found it - Lukey LR2779.

the complete bolt on with the LR2779 box is al4-5597 from memory it bolts straight on no cutting welding etc just need a new gasket and 3 bolts and your set to go! takes about 10-15min to change yourself very simple

Any glasspack straight through muffler, that doesnt have a larger outlet than inlet (should be equal diameter), should keep noise to a minimum.. yet still have a gruitier note than standard. I wouldnt go much wider than 2.5".

i was told off my trusted exhaust man that lukey had alot of returns as they were faulty
my lukey turbo cracked across the middle of the back plate, lukey replaced it 3 weeks outside of warranty, guy who done my system said they had alot of fails i was like WTF dude your going to put another one on?! lukey told him they redisigned the fault area the replacement turbo was a differnt size to what was split. had zero problems since no sign of the same thing happening again
