Hey guys,
Last night i drove to Coles but i couldn't drive home :( My car just wouldn't turn over. I rang NRMA and he advised that i wasn't getting any spark from my EFI. Whats involved in replacing the EFI system in the 93 TR. My engine has done close to 300k would it be easier just to replace the entire engine? My mates has a great setup workshop so tools hoist etc isn't a problem.
Thoughts suggestions would be appreciated.

Maybe he means from the coil?
what exactly does he mean by the WHOLE EFI has be replaced?
I would of thought something like fuel pump or starter motor if its not turning over...

:( My car just wouldn't turn over..
Checked the obvious first? Namely battery.... :P
If thats ok, then most likely the starter is dodgy.
If its an auto give the shifter a jiggle, and work it up and down the gears.. then back to 'P', just to make sure its not the starter/neutral switch.
Could be the coil, as has been said, that has something called the transistor on it, that could be at fault, also it could be your Crank Angle Sensor (located inside the dizzy)
I had the insulation on one of the wires to the crank angle sensor break, and that caused the car to sometimes not start, or to stall. The racv guy said it was probably the transistor.

That wont stop a car from cranking...

call NRMA again explain what the person said and what he did
you would like someone to come out and look at the car ...one NRMA Patrol person
that NRMA breakdown employee who said the EFI etc has not been trained or does not know how to explain the problem too you
thats why you pay for the membership

Godsknight, if people make suggestions on a post you have provided very little detail in please refrain from useless posts about what people are telling you.
For starters, if the car cranks but does not start (ie does turn over but not fire) which from what you said about no spark it must be cranking, could be some of the following. This would mean that your explaination of car will not turn over is defective and not Firestorms help.
1. Ignition Module
2. CAS in dist
3. Electical Plug into dist, coil or module
4. ECU, remove it and remove the cover, these are known to burn from leaking capacitor.
5. ECU relay
6. If battery has enough juice to crank but is low on power, it can cause voltage drop and the ECU relay will not throw. (more a issue in Falcons)
If car does not crank, (engine does nothing) then look at inhibitor switch, starter.
