After 2 years and nearly 60,000 kay, I bode farewell last Sunday to my good and very reliable friend.

I came across here from the LS1 forum after trading my then not so reliable friend, the VX SS. I now go back to the LS1 forum with my new friend, E Series HSV Clubsport R8.

Its just in the blood, the lure of the bent 8 was too much to resist any longer.

The 380 was and still is a great car, it just did not offer me the grunt I so desire.

Cheers guys.

Ohhh very nice mate, looks like a beast. I am the same as you, after the magna its going to be a monaro or similar. Anyways good luck for the future, and dont forget you can still hang around here and provide advice.

Damn, that was a nice 380 you had. Nice choice in cars though, the rear end of that commie looks far better then any other VE model. Love the colour too

Very nice mate - Hope she turns out to be a reliable car and gives you lots of enjoyment and safe driving.
Looking at the pics, my first mod would be different rims. Leave them if you like them but personally I'm not a fan of them and don't think they do the rest of the car justice.

Yeah, but dont tell the Mrs :bowrofl:

The usual, OTR air intake, LS2 edit. May leave the zorst alone as I quite like the note of the standard HSV zorst, nice and quiet when cruising but give it a prod and its very sweet.

Gains seem to be anywhere between 30-40 RWKW with OTR and Edit tune.

The jury is still out on the rims. If I replace them then they will cost a pretty packet as the rears are 19 x 9.5in wide with the fronts 19 x 8in wide. One thing I can say with authority....THEY ARE A BIYACH TO CLEAN!!!

This thread is missing something...

perhaps a certain EVO owner to come in here telling you how much fuel this thing is going to go through, how ugly it is, and how much faster a stock EVO is.

Btw, I prefer the look of the SS's, but still a very nice upgrade

That is one hot looking car mate, you are very lucky!!!

As much as I love my car, I'm guessing it would be fair to say a lot of people on this forum (myself included) with modded 380's would ultimately like a 300kw Commodre if finances permitted.

Im guessing for the price range and nice EVO would also be a consideration?? :D

Now "how" much faster is a stock EVO Tim-E??

it'd be a tough choice between an Evo 9 and one of these things.. bloody tough choice.. if i had to chose one or the other it would have to be the evo purely for the fact that there isnt as many around..

hope yours is manual.. ;)

got any interior pics?

I have no idea, but you are missing the point of my post.

I'll give you a clue - I don't own an EVO and I'm not even a fan of them.

You might not have seen enough around here to know what I am talking about but anyways, congrats on the pick up. Remarkable how similar the blue duco's are! :)

congrats on the buy man the e-series look a hell of a lot nicer then the previous models. Any plans to the motor? the ls1's sooo easy to get power out of them with just mild bolt ons

Yes, as I said in a previous post, OTR induction and a LS2 tune. From what I have read, 300rwkw should be achievable with bolt ons if I want to go full Difilipo zorst.

Having said that, the minister for finance will have the last say........

WOW, awesome car.
But this car is such a big step up to a 380 its not even funny. You can't compare it, in looks, performance and in particular, price!
You must have hit the jackpot!
Congratulations.

Holden dealer in Sydney's west gave me 22k for it. I was quite happy with that. Had 58,000 km on the clock but was in very well kept condition. Needed new tyres though.

I have checked redbook and they have it back on the lot for sale at $28,999. Have a look, the reg plate is YEB43H.

http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au/carsforsale/index.php

Cheers.

Edit: I have just seen an add for brand new 2007 plated, 380 Platinum Auto models. Drive away for 29,990. They include Bluetooth and A sunroof.

Thats a great deal, and it makes the $28,999 look far to expensive for my old one with 58 k on the clock and no sunroof or bluetooth. Does have 20s though :)

sweet looking ride mate
as for the v8 using more fuel than an evo take it from me there is not that much difference in fuel use if the evo is not stock as i know having both an evo 8 and now a vy ss as i sold the magna a little while ago to also get back into a v8 as i missed the rumble of the 8

UPDATE: For those who have been asking about how the mods are going:

Car went in today for twin 2.5" exhaust, high flow cats, 1 3/4" headers, OTRAI and a tune.

First dyno run for a baseline before any mods came back with 231rwkw. Im pretty happy with that from an A6 auto.

Will see what the total gains are after I pick it up tomorrow afternoon and will post final results up.

Cheers,

231kw stock Jesus Christ!
Some of us will only make that once we've emptied our wallets about $20K into the magnas engine bay :P

Love the sound of the new twin 2.5" X-force exhaust and headers. There is rumble in the jungle.

Not quite sure what rwkw figures equate to at the flywheel, anybody??

Now for the weather to clear up :D

I'd say you would be looking at roughly 355KW at the flywheel ..... nice one!

That is an excellent result, you are a very lucky guy!!!! Not sure if you got a HP reading but apparently HP at the wheels is about the same as KW's at the flywheel.
