I'm no computer wiz, so I'm unable to open the Lisho 3rd gen TJ/TL workshop manual which I've downloaded, obviously other people have downloaded it and have opened it.

To the people who have opened it did you run straight from the computer in UDMF format or burn it to CD-rom or simply convert it to something like PDF or similar?

The solution is probably staring me in the face but I've tried everything and cannot view the manual (Windows does not know what program opens this file) and I am about to replace the crankshaft seal on my engine and would rather not tackle such a job without a manual (I know more about engines than computers, I've re-built a few old Astron 2.6 sigma engines in the past) but I always consult a manual if it's my first time on a new engine.

Failing that I'll just go out and buy a workshop manual, which brand do people find the best? Gregories etc? Thanks in advance.

Burn it

or

Daemon Tools (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/) is also your friend.

Thanks Gas_Hed, your a champ, I'll give the Daemon software a go, I've already burned it to CD-Rom but it still would not open.

Also regarding the Workshop Manuals, I have both the Gregorys and the Haynes. (and the electronic one)

Sometimes the Gregorys is better and other times the Haynes, best bet is to get both of them if you can stretch the budget.

did you burn the file itself to a dvd, or open it in nero?

its an image file, in nero go to File -> open, and find it, it then should allow you to burn it :)

or get daemon tools, so damn handy if you download........ stuff ;)

I tried the Nero thing, but I'll have another go and see if I can get it, I don't think I opened the file with Nero, I just burned it to CD, I'll have another go.

Gas_Hed it would probably be a good idea to have all three, but I'll see how I go with the Lisho manual if I can open it.

Thanks guys you have been a great help.
