Im looking at a 00 black VR-X done about 100k's in auction
just curious about a few things
1. it jerks a bit when shifting into reverse all other gears fine
2. paint needs a bit of a polish up
3. engine bay looks dirty
Just wondering how much will you guys pay for something like this?
Its got sports seat in it... so they selling it as a sports

it's got lowish km's, but I still wouldn't pay much more than $10k for it, depending on options.

Its black ... which i really like :D
Also another Q..how fast is this comparing my 3.0s? or comparing to others?

i'd ask why it has "sports" seats and not "vrx" seats. is it actually a sports with a vrx kit? why is it at the auction? you might want to check it thoroughly for old damage.

that VIN looks like an auto Sports.
EDIT: Redbook have 6MMTJ9S42IT as a Sports. they list 6MMTJ7S42YT as a VR-X.

VRX was just a model option, not an actual coded stand-alone model, that is to say all VRX's and Sports have the same VIN codes.
So really, even if it is a Sports with an aftermarket VRX kit added, it's pretty much the same as a VRX, except for the chrome gear shirt surround, badging and 17s.

there's your answer then... if it says VR-X, it's a VR-X.

Okay the difference between a Sports and a VRX is the following:
VRX has front, rear and side body kit
VRX has the VRX rear wing (more verticle than the sports)
VRX has a Straight muffler tip
VRX has a chrome gear shift surround in the Autos
VRX has 17 inchers from MY02 (series 1.5) onwards
Sports has 16 inch wheels
Sports has a deflected exhaust tip under the rear bumper
Sports has the standard gear shift surround in the auto
Sports has the VRX rear wing up until MYO2 (series 1.5) then it switched to the flatter style TJ2 rear wing.

Something else that is interesting is that all the TJ VRXs carry the VIN of a Magna Sports, for eg this vin for a VRX off carsales: 6MMTJ9S421T023818, my VIN (TJ2 SPorts) 6MMTJ9S423T0XXXXX. VRX was an options pack.

so the sports/vr-x has a 9 in the 6th spot... hmmm, I wonder why?

ok ended up getting this car for a reasonable price
however it needs a new battery
leaking a bit of oil
few items needs fixing in the interior
needs polishing
fair bit of stone chips on bonnet (gonna be hard to fix for a black car, so mite just leave it)
foot rest a bit loose
and also..the radio code is not in the manual...anyone know any solutn to by pass the code yet? call mitsubishi?
atm..plan to put clear indicators (+side 1s) on...reckon that'll look better than the orange ones
overall quite satisfied ( change from $10k)
Black VR-X!..always liked EGO's one :)
