View Full Version : Couple of question about 01 VRX.
Hi i tried searching but no luck.
Im looking at buying a " 2001 Limited edition VRX "
and i just wanted to know if all VRX's have digital climate control, as the one i want doesnt.
Also i thought all VRX headlights have the clear corner indicators, once again the one i want does not.
What other options do the " Limited Edition " VRX's have over the normal VRX.
Thanks.

there was a tj and tj2, something changed i'm not sure when. tj2 has the digital odometer too i think.

yep only the my01 or TJ 2s got the climte control...my 00 vrx doesnt have it
and it got orange indicators as well, so its normal
the limited edition, shud have some extras like leather etc..

My VR-X is July 01 and doesn't have climate. I think it was added a few months later. It has the clear corner lights tho - they were added in the first half of 01.
I don't think its a limited edition model, to be honest. I could be wrong, but the only limited edition VR-X I can think of had climate and leather, and was new enough to have the clear indicators.

hey mate i have a tj with badges saying that it is a 20th anniversary edition. one would think that would intail some sort of extras but not in this case Unfortunately. it is not like i am complaining it is a great car but i dont think limited or special edition entails many extras

Thats suxs. They started Climate in the Next month after yours..:)
Mines a MY02 VRX..:)
There is three TJ Models..
TJ Series 1 = Analog Dash & Normal Air Cond (8/2000-7/2001)
TJ MY02 = Analog Dash & Climate Control (8/2001-6/2002)
TJ Series 2 = Digital Dash & Climate Control (7/2002-5/2003)
Thats the easiet way to tell what you TJ is..:)
Thanks for the info guys.
It hasnt got leather but its got a sunroof ;)
Should it have Limited edition badges or something?

If sunroof is the only thing that's different about it, I'd be tempted to think that the owner's added it (be it a dealer fit or aftermarket option). Typically a limited edition model would have more than one change to it.
Here's an article (http://www.autoweb.com.au/cms/A_53963/title_VRXtra/newsarticle.html) that mentions the Limited Edition models I was talking about previously. They all had leather, colour-matched dash dials as well as an upgraded sound system.

:( Oh well, at least I got the decent alloys :P

So its probably just a normal VRX with the factory otion sunroof??
Its a bit hard for me to tell as the car is in Melb and im in Adelaide, only seen a few pics.
Thats why im asking so many questions.

It could always be an aftermarket sunroof.
Personally, I'd treat it as an ordinary VR-X with a sunroof. I wouldn't rush in to buy it or pay extra purely on the basis that it's a "limited edition".
Do you reckon its an original VRX?
2001 model, just over 100,000kms
Here's some pics of it:

Looks like an authentic VR-X to me - either that, or someone's gone to a lot of trouble to recreate one. Never hurt to double check the VIN code tho.

Likewise.... S1 VR-X....
There was a special edition as was previously mentioned..
Had red dials, red and black seats and red door trims as well... but that only had standard air con so they'd be S1 too

Didn't end up going to VIC, i found an immaculate one locally its a Silver 2000 TJ VRX, 1 owner, 95,000kms with all its service history.
Cannot be any happier :D
Will get pics up soon.
Also, does anyone if its ok to use 100w globes in the fog lights?
One of mine has blown and i was going to replace them with the 100w's.
Or should i just stick with the 55w that are in there?

In your fog lights yes... not a problem... cos' the lenses are glass...
I'd think twice before putting them into the headlights though.....
I have a MY02 and its all digital. Nothing analogue.
