Hey Guys,

I spent the better part of this arvo swapping over one of my front struts (I was going to do the second but ran out of time so thats for friday) Problem is, having installed the newbie a Monroe GT Gas, the car has been making a creaking noise every now and again when turning. In a straight line there are no problems and the ride quality is already noticeably better, and I am 99% sure all the connections are fine.
I'm a little perplexed.... The only thing I can think of is that its the sway bar, as the links were already worn and it rattled so I am assuming that by taking out the old strut ive made it worse. Am i correct in thinking that if it were the strut I would know about it through ride quality steering probs etc???

thanks for any help
Callum

Possible also that the strut top is not sitting properly and the spring is rotating when you turn the wheel.

yeah i had that problem, only while turning at low speeds.... you can take it out and fix it, or adding a heaps of grease also helps it as a temporary measure......

yeah I think the spring is the prob, the noise only happens every time you change the direction of the turn, ie. if you turn left you hear the noise but if you keep turning left after its fine but if you make a right hand turn the noise happens again.
Looks like ill have to take it out and compress it again.... oh well

thanks for all the help fellas

i going to have to concur cause this happened to me after getting all 4 struts replaced last week!!! the spring has to be seated in the strut brakets correctly!! (i did get it cheap, but i thought he'ld do it right!!! FFS)

i went and told the dickhead what he'd (or his staff) had done wrong and they fixed it on the spot!!! (i've done it before and i got it right so there was no excuse for them to **** it up!!!)
