The other day i installed a new ignition key light as the last one had blown and i hadnt replaced it since i bought the car, when i installed the new light it wouldnt turn off no matter what i did so i took it out.
Ive also noticed that the green key illumination around the keyhole on the outside of the car door sometimes doesnt turn off after the 10 seconds, ive walked back to my car after leaving it parked for several hours at night to see the green light from the keyhole still on.
Also the lights in the interior and footwells don't fade out after closing the doors, they just turn off straight away.
My car is an SE so im assuming it has ETACS? My car doesnt have an alarm but....
Would all these strange light problems be associated with the ETACS system?
If not, what else would control the light time out in the ignition light and the drivers door keyhole illumination light?
Thankyou in advance guys:D

Your problem is that you do not have ETACS...that will do it you know lol

As for the light, check the switch on the drivers door handle, it is inside, when you grab the handle, it turns on.

ah ok, so you think the problem is a switch inside the outside drivers door handle that triggers the lights im having hassles with?

No,
Your inside lights are fine, you do not have ETACS thus they will not fade, they will simply turn off.

Your key light is most likely the switch in the door.

the problem im having is:

the green light around the keyhole on the outside drivers door does NOT turn off
and when a bulb is installed next to the ignition barrel it does NOT turn off either.
So maybe the problems im having with these 2 lights are linked to a fault in a switch in the doorhandle as they are both triggered to turn off by the doorhandle and are not doing so?
